After *checks notes* many months, Farscape is finally getting out of the cage. I meant to post this so long ago, I'm glad you will be able to see it.

I really love this show, it's a top-10 all-time show to me. It's a bit of a slow burn... I definitely like it better than "Firefly" (definitively, maybe even significantly) but Firefly definitely hits the ground running more so than Farscape, so... fans of Farscape are always a bit worried about early reactions to the show. I'd say the first really good episode might be 6, and the show's main conflict, main premise, isn't really introduced until late in season 1 (this was back when the norm was 22 episodes per season, so... it's not like Invincible, that waited until the final episode to reveal Omni-Man's motivation, but that's only 8 episodes of waiting...) In Farscape, none of the characters have a prior relationship so they are figuring out their dynamic as the viewer is, while Firefly had some established relationships going in (and great casting that made it feel natural) so... eventually I think Farscape gets better; I think it absolutely rewards you for the time you put in, but you definitely have to be willing to invest some time. The show isn't afraid to evolve and grow, as characters are cycled in and out, it doesn't get stale, it doesn't try to lazily maintain the status quo... I think it'd work better as a weekly watch from you rather than simply watching one episode (unlike, say, Psych, that seems to have piqued your interest already; I haven't watched this reaction yet, I'm hopeful but trepidatious)... I wonder if we could make a push for it once you get past "Sex Ed" and "Gen V" and "Arrested Development", opening up 3 spots (I think 3? Maybe "The Boys" would come back to replace Gen V...) I might prefer Veronica Mars? And a few of mine that you haven't watched like Life, or Keen Eddie (VM would be realistic, I think, as a new show; I'm assuming the latter not so much)... I might prefer early season Psych (or, honestly, I'd have them at a tie, but I'm more confident you'd enjoy Psych, so...) but the last few seasons were... meh. James Gunn said Farscape is one of his favorite all-time sci-fi shows, it heavily influenced "Guardians of the Galaxy", even going so far as to cast John Crichton/Ben Browder in GotG vol 2 (doing his "Peacekeeper" voice)... I really wish that the success of GotG would've caused more people to check out Farscape, for it to gain a late appreciation. Oh well...

I absolutely loved Farscape when I first watched it and have had it on my to rewatch list for a long time. Because of the use of practical effects, mostly by The Jim Henson Company, it holds up really well visually. The pacing is a bit slower than with modern shows but I actually find it kind of relaxing. The show is definitely worth the time, with great characters and story.

And thus ends the era of me teasing you for not posting this . I'm gonna miss that ritual :).

While this show never was really my thing I am happy for those that have been eagerly waiting for this to finally get posted. Truly a triumphant day for this community.

I love this show and I normally don't like space shows but I have the complete series box set on dvd.

If I were in an advanced spaceship I would simply NOT crash into a weaponless piece of junk and kill myself. Unlike Crais' weak-ass brother. Guess I'm built different...

A bit of trivia: Edit: episode 5 - PK Tech Girl, not episode 6 Although episode 15 is the introduction of Chiana, so... a turning point in the series. Also: the actor who plays Crais also voices "Pilot" I always wonder, with a show like this (that requires a time commitment before it really takes off) if you're best off having somebody watch an episode deeper into the season to see if it piques their interest. Or the pilot and *then* an episode deeper into the season. Because asking somebody to watch 6+ episodes before it finds its footing (9? 15?) is a big ask... like, for Community, I always think the Law and Order spoof ep is a great litmus test; if somebody isn't sure they want to watch Community, if that episode doesn't get them interested, nothing will. (Not their *best* episode, but IMO the best episode to use as a litmus test.) Not sure what that episode would be for Farscape...

Your intro reminded me that you watched the pilot for "Psych" and then made me a little sad that you're not watching the rest of it.
