Who the fuck asked for the incest baby back?

They obviously brought the incest baby back as a giant fuck you to the fans. They've always been clear about not being all that interested in over-arching story lines and a lot of continuity; but the fans want continuity, so here we go - continuity. Personally I thought it was hilarious. And I've immensely enjoyed seeing multiple reactors roll their eyes at those bits. 😀

It is also highly entertaining to see which topics finally "cross the line" for the reactors.

I thought the episode was OK overall. For me, the 'giant incest baby' is just an artefact of a stupid, juvenile, icky episode. I can cope with them bringing it up, so long as they don't repeat the kind of stuff that led up to it! I hope they will let it go now, or at least after this season. It would be great if we never saw it again. Knowing them, it'll probably be key to the series finale in five years time.🤣

Which episodes are NOT stupid, juvenile and/or icky? And yet, the net result is glorious!

Thomas Yanez

To be honest, I'm glad they doubled down on the incest baby, and hope they have at least one more shot coming. For the show to have the acclaim it does, even winning Emmy's, despite the insanely fucked up content, when they finally do something that makes a significantly vocal portion of the fan base react negatively - it wouldn't be "Rick and Morty" if they DIDN'T push that button again.

Will

Lots of Rick and Morty episodes are pretty clever! Fair enough if you enjoyed it, but the whole episode just went too far into 'gross for the sake of gross' territory for me. I was just left with a real 'eww' feeling about the whole thing. Honestly, I just didn't particularly want to have to think too much about Morty's semen. It wasn't even just a quick joke, the whole damn episode was about it! 😀

Rene Aavik

Which is exactly what they were going for. This still counts as clever writing in my book.

Rene Aavik

Exactly. Have people already forgotten about South Park, for example? They pioneered this sort of approach to animated comedy. and have won multiple Emmy awards for it.

Will

Well, good for them. They cleverly made a lot of us dislike the episode. 😂

Will

I was never really into South Park that much. Outrageous for the sake of outrageous isn't something that really appeals to me. I have to actually find it funny. I like Rick and Morty when I find it clever and funny. Sometimes I find it both, but that episode didn't work for me. I don't accept that is some kind of fault of mine (or the other people who didn't like it). They just made an episode which wasn't to our taste, and decided to call back to it in this one! If they are making some kind of 'artistic statement' by deliberately making something that they know some people will strongly dislike, then I guess that's their choice. Obviously, the potential consequence being that they could lose people if they decide to go down that road too often.

Well, I don't care if they don't care. 😂 Everybody has stuff they don't like, right? Rick does. Dan Harmon does! We're not wrong for having our personal tastes in comedy etc. I think they were fucking stupid and unfunny ideas, but that's just my opinion!

If you really think South Park is just "outrageous for the sake of outrageous" then you really don't get it at all. All of your waffle in your comments just confirms that you are just the type of person these creators are making fun of with these episodes. Which is hilarious to watch.

Great. I'm used to being able to say what I think without being insulted around here, but that has obviously changed. I'm allowed to like and dislike whatever the hell I like. I have no problem with anybody else liking it, but I'm not at fault for disliking it. If there was more to South Park than what I saw, fine, For what it's worth, I did quite like some of it, but it's ages since I watched it. Jesus Christ, I can't believe it's turned to personal insults over liking or disliking an episode.
