Eminem & Rihanna - Love the Way You Lie Pt 2 REACTION!!!

I certainly don’t think she meant to imply at all that feeling loyalty to someone whom you know has your back but who is also abusive toward you is healthy. But — and I know this might sound messed up — there is a certain beauty to this kind of love. People are complicated and messy creatures. Obviously the couple depicted in this song are not emotionally stable on their own and have become incredibly codependent. It’s made clear that their relationship started out well (As most abusive relationships do) so there’s no reason to doubt the sincerity or depth of the love that they have for each other. There are so many different factors that can create the right storm inside a persons soul in order to turn them against those he or she loves. Their own self worth, insecurities, fear of abandonment, chemical imbalances, added stressors like money, health care, housing and the guilt that can come from not being able to provide or aid your partner when they need you or having let them down in some way. Counterintuitively, the feeling of shame over having let a loved one down can actually propel a person to aggression, even violence. I think that’s why this song breaks my heart, why the tears on my cheeks beat Blu’s to the punch. This kind of love is brimming with so much tainted potential. So few people ever find a love that would withstand this kind of toxicity. Right or wrong, their love is potentially so powerful that at least she has been resigned to endure the abuse in order to sate it. Should they be in this relationship? No. Absolutely not. They obviously have their own issues that need to be dealt with before they try to build a stable relationship with anyone else. But to boil it down to something as simple as to say they “can’t value themselves enough to be comfortable being alone” just doesn’t do this story justice. JMO

Beautiful assessment. I think sometimes people who are unloved accept attachments because they yearn for closeness. To agree with you in an odd way, that love becomes attractive because of the level of INTENSITY. Someone can’t hurt you if they or you are uninterested in each other or have a shallow investment. People are drawn to passion, and when that passion comes out as violence instead of support/comfort It’s easy to mistake that violent passion for loyalty/love mixed with frustration. Sometimes two people would be completely different in any other relationship with any other person, but their mix of attributes and energies create a perfect storm of negativity that would never sprout in the presence of any other combination. Sometimes you love somebody so much that pain with them feels better than a decent but monotone connection with someone else. There’s studies that I’ve seen where they liken abusive relationships to army buddies and fraternity pledges. They analyzed and found that the humiliation and pain between frat brothers made an imprint and made them more loyal and dedicated to each other because they all feel like they went through pain together. Same with military brothers, they have seen the worst together so they become more attached with each other than they would with someone they had pleasant experiences with. In short; That strong buildup through pain might explain why abusive relationships garner a deeper attachment/love.

I know I am late to be part of the conversations lol. Really quick, Skylar Grey is the original write for this song. It was to Rihanna because someone in the music industry believed it fitted her more due to her relationship with Chris Brown. You can find it still on Youtube and it is just her singing, no Eminem but it is still amazing. Some don't recognize the difference between her and RIhanna becuase their voice sound the same. But I love how real it gets to you. It is a strong song and it reminds me of a certain person that I once had in my life and it was a back and forth thing and yea. I needed to learn to let go. Anyways, always love your content.
