This movie is just so beautifully epic. This and Spirit are two of my all-time favorite movies, just absolutely gorgeous animation, music, and storytelling. This was a great review, very fun to watch along with your reactions! :D I definitely recommend checking out Lion King II - it’s not as good as the first, but it’s still a very good movie, and definitely has a lot of heart. Also, I wouldn’t be doing my duty as a lifelong TLK fan if I didn’t share some oft-repeated trivia about the movie which you may or may not already be aware of but I’ll share anyway because I find trivia fun! * The names are mostly taken from Swahili - Simba means “Lion” in Swahili, Nala means “Gift”, Mufasa means “King”, Sarabi means “Mirage”, Rafiki means “Friend”, Shenzi means “Savage” or “Barbaric”, Pumbaa means “Foolish”, etc. * There was a set of short stories published sort of under the Disney name after the book was released, following the adventures of Simba’s son Kopa (not seen in any future official Lion King films, so how canon he is is debatable). * One of the stories in the book mentioned above shows Mufasa and Scar’s youth. Before he earned his scar in a ploy to make Mufasa bad that backfired (he ended up pissing off a herd of water buffalo and getting struck in the face by one), he was called Taka, which is Swahili for “dirt” or “to want” * There were some early concept characters that got cut from the final draft of the movie. Originally, Nala was going to have a little brother called Mheetu (which doesn’t mean anything in Swahili, it’s just “me too!” with the spelling changed to make it look more Swahili-ish) who likes to tag along with his big sister. * Jeremy Irons did indeed provide the singing voice for Scar - but only for part of the song. Funnily enough, by the time you asked during the song whether the voice actor also sang the song, it was no longer Irons singing. He blew out his voice during the “YOU WON’T GET A SNIFF WITHOUT ME!” part of the song and couldn’t finish singing. Jim Cummings, who provided the voice of Ed, sang the rest of the song. * Not strictly related to the movie but hyena trivia time! Hyenas are actually not in the same family as dogs. They are in their own family that only includes hyenas, which only includes four species. Hyenas are actually more closely related to lions like Scar and Simba than they are to dogs. They are also very adept hunters, unlike the movie’s implication that they’re just scavengers - lions scavenge off of them sometimes. Females are dominant in hyena Clans, with the lowest-ranking female outranking the highest-ranking male.

Also, I forget if it was this video of yours or another that I watched where you mentioned possibly reviewing animated shorts, but if you do start reacting to shorts, I recommend Disney’s “Far From The Tree”, which appeared before Encanto in theaters. I just saw it for the first time a few days ago, and it’s beautifully animated and tackles some surprisingly heavy subject matter with no dialogue.
