I love this episode. Mainly for Spike, your feelings may change towards him but I donโ€™t want to say anything that could be a spoiler. Spike is usually the one that can make an episode a fan favorite and his speech regarding Buffy and Angel is what makes it because heโ€™s vocalizing what the viewer knows but Buffy and Angel refuse to admit. They can never be friends and the temptation to be with each other is too dangerous and will overwhelm them at some point.

Perhaps one day you will return to this Buffy series and get to see Spike's character arc and know why he's a fan favorite. And yes, this is part of the lead-up to the Angel series. While Cordelia doesn't leave the Buffy show yet, she DOES end up a main character on the Angel series, and she also has an awesome character arc, while still retaining her Cordy-ness. The Angel series is less about the humor and more about the darkness; it has a more serious theme to it. Buffy has a LOT of dark humor, which I personally love, lol.
