I really appreciate that they've chosen to explore the galaxy seeders portrayed back in TNG. That seemed like such a huge story ... but they discarded it immediately the next week. The Chase made it seem like such a huge pressing thing... but oops, gotta move onto the next thing. I knew immediately what it was from that first shot of Vellek on that planet, even as grainy and blurry as it was. That was something I desperately wished they'd explore more and it's finally happening... thirty years later. Maybe we get to see post-war Bajor and Cardassia too? :) ... speaking of, if you remember The Chase, the Cardassians were also involved, so I wonder if we'll see 32nd century Cardassians. We know that Bajor has changed its position in the galaxy a lot, so I'm wondering what Cardassia's place is. The premise of this season also calls back to the early TOS movies, where the Genesis Device, something that creates life, is also extremely dangerous. The problem I had with the Burnham ship-surfing scene was that a hand phaser was able to damage a ship enough to take it out of warp. I was also a little annoyed that Tilly was able to break top level Starfleet security--while drunk/hungover. The planet that Moll and L'ak went to made me think it was Tatooine, but nicer :D It even had speeders! Fred was a delight, I wish we would've gotten more of him.
