Behind the Scenes #52 (Patreon)

What up mini family?! BTS post #52 is special because that means that we've been doing these posts for a year or more at this point! Woohoo! Onto the good stuff though. I got some really cool mail recently.
A big ol' box full of VAMPIRES! Now the last thing I need to get is a bunch of red boxes and belly labels shown off previously in a BTS post and I can start selling the Duchess!...after I finish the video series on her. These next couple of weeks (a little over 4 weeks) are going to be hectic. I need to finish 5 videos, 2 podcasts, and the entire vampire video series. Wish me luck! Deadlines are a double edged sword. You want to make sure you're doing your best work, but I know me and if left to my own devices, I would just not get things done without deadlines. I even worked out a little schedule for myself so I know what I need to get done between now and the beginning of December. This is subject to change pending on me hitting my goals for finishing these videos.
But what else is going on?! Well, Brent from Goobertown Hobbies was in town and he stopped by!
We shot a podcast a few funny gags in case we decide to shoot a collab video in the future. If we do, we'll have some funny footage to use. Recently I picked up a new piece of cinema technology.
These are 2 stands on wheels with a crossbar attached to a super clamp. The cross bar has some sound dampening blankets clipped to it and these are essentially mobile walls I can move around to help deaden reverb in my basement whether I'm shooting a podcast or video! If you read my schedule, you'll have seen that I'm working on a mantic video. They had a fun idea to do a scenic base for some of their new models. If you don't know, mantic doesn't individually base their models in Kings of War, their fantasy game. A unit of 15-20 dudes comes on one large base. I LOVE the concept for this video but the problem is that I don't have any painted models from KOW! So, I had to start batch painting a squad before I could work on the video they were sponsoring.
Here you can see them all primed up and you can see the size of the base. I'm thinking igloos, spiked log embattlements and all sorts of wintery goodness for these eskimo type dudes. I think I'll get 2 videos out of this process: one video about batch painting and one about making a bomb scenic base for Kings of War. Last but now least, I ordered a buttload of kitchen furniture from IKEA.
You might be like: "Scott, I don't care about your kitchen remodel" and I'd be like, this is for youtube! I'm going to be spicing up my set in a big way soon. The editing PC is going up stairs and 1/2 of my entire basement will be a set for videos. At the moment, 1/4 of it is a set, and 1/4 is my hobby desk/editing desk. I'm hoping if I separate the editing and hobby area, I can have more purpose built spaces and be more efficient. Last but not least, Sam Lenz is coming over to my place this weekend and we're going to shoot a few videos. One of the more notable ones is funny skit we're going to do with a working title of "Flex Kwando". Essentially, it's inspired by Rex Kwando from Napoleon Dynamite. A wrestler inspired, over the top character who teaches a miniature painting class. I met with Sam and Jon to discuss creative ideas about how the skit should go and started to collect pieces of Sam's outfit. Number one, we need a sweet wind breaker.
My wife picked this up from a vintage clothing store. I bought a pair of Zubaz online for Sam to wear (leopard print elastic pants) and also I had a patron of mine make me up a brush gauntlet with looks absolutely insane.
Toss on some nascar sunglasses, a bandanna, and we have a hilarious character. That's all for now, see you guys next week!
PAINT MORE MINIS!
