Hey patrons, I've been working on the diagonal dodges for like....a month now ? And I'm never satisfied. Basically I think of an animation, do it, and I'm like "wtf is this shit". 


The good thing is, last time I did that was the forward dodge and it turned out well, but it took me 5 days. Now it's been over a month and I still can't get one direction done lol. If you want to propose references by all mean go on. It doesn't mean that I'll do it, or even if I use yours that it'll look 1:1 like the reference as I usually take some liberty with it (like the HZD Aloy dodge).


I'll also prolly redo the right and left dodges since right now they're ok but kinda...meh..

It might be too hard and lots of work I bet but it would be nice to have the dodges evolving according to skill levels (like having something more acrobatic for the dodges or one dodge only once you reach light armor 50 or sneak 50 -&gt; aerials, spinning, back handsprings…layout for girls, backflips for boys…) I know I dream too much haha. Regardless your dodge mod has been the best and I’m having a blast using it. Keep up the amazing work.

I don't know if this can help. But my best side dodge is actually Ni-ru add attack. True it adds attack but in same time it adds animation with it. Its clean, one leg wide step a side dodge . Yo thanks but the DMCO system is different. It's not a trick like the TK Dodge, there is an actual animation which means the dodge and the attack are actually separated. I just didn't animate them yet ^^

Yo lol, it's too much work for one person alone indeed. It will be achievable with more dodge animations once it goes public

Honestly what I want most out of a dodge animation is just a short, simple lunge, like in the GIF for DMCO on Nexusmods. All the dodge mods I've tried for SSE end up looking like a worse-animated Bloodborne dodge -- it worked in BB but in Skyrim it ends up just looking like you're sliding, you know?

Well, it's cool but not really technically feasible with what I have now as I'd need to make the char disappear and it'll fuck up super hard with sth like HDT lol (which is what happen with the teleport in v0. 3)

Thanks. I really like the twirls one's the rest not a fan. I was actually experimenting with twirls for the diagonal and it's likely what I'll do ^^

Is that possible to add a condition to stop dodge if you not had enough stamina?

Yeah, but because it's skse I can't give an ETA, but it'll come. Otherwise it's possible to use the kinda shitty DAR workaround I used but... Meeeeh

Nice. That's more in the vein of what I think it should be. Some ducks and dodge or such. I actually tried that already but without being satisfied of the result. I might give it another shot

Honestly, I think a lot of games implement this with a slightly sideways-forward dodge. Nothing wrong with that--don't let perfect be the enemy of done

Well, my reference I guess is usually Hellblade, but it only has 4 directions lol

I would suggest a look at the Nioh games. They have great, simple no real frills dodge animations. Don't know how far you were intending to go but they also go from a step dodge to a roll on double clicking the dodge with the rolling having greater i-frames but a longer recovery so it acts as an OH SHIT button. If you were thinking of doing any sort of magical dodge I would suggest the art quickening from Bloodborne. Thank you for everything that you've done and everything you do. You have made the game so worthy to be played.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I actually found the new designs for the dodge and will probably stick with the small leaps and maybe the full rotations for the forward one's To be honest, I don't really care for the animations I make lol, it's mostly just placeholder. But unlike for SKySA because it's Patreon and not the Nexus I don't want to give crap quality animations ^^
