My custom controller configs with separate buttons for normal and power attacks. Made for DMCO and TDM. It's made to be as intuitive, simple, and stay as close as the normal control scheme as possible. 

No need for an ESP anymore that will swap your keys or add complicated combinations. You will just need "Hank's gamepad and controller fixes" to enable the keyboard at the same time as the controller  Watch the video in the description for the instructions


I own a Steam Controller too but no PS4 controller. I can release my own Steam Controller config very soon if you're interested, but I'd need a bit more time for a PS4 controller configuration

On a side note : I should have made this video a month ago already but because of the pressure I imponed upon myself I just wouldn't for reasons. Now that I clearly stated that I don't care, I somehow manage to be more productive lol. Thanks again for your support. None of this would be possible without you. The new animators are rising and one of them is just absolute nuts. If you're in the Discord, you might have already seen his work. Great things came and even more great things are coming

At work, so I can’t look into it right now. Super excited to try it though, and very curious! How did you separate power attacks from regular attacks with just regular controller bindings? I didn’t think that was possible! :o

Well, I use a Steam Controller so I know how to tinker with the Big Picture. Like many things, we have the tools, but it's just that we don't use them to their maximum. Basically, the RB button is used for both shouts and normal attacks. If you normal press you use a normal attack, long press and you shout Skyrim has only one button for attacks so it uses the "fInitialPowerAttackDelay" value to check if the button is long pressed. By default it's around 0.3, I recommend setting it at 0.1 to 0.15 for SkySA. I just set up RT so it would always last at least that long I used to have a configuration where the RB button would be used for normal attacks and nothing else, but in the end it was more complicated to navitate in menus and such ^^

Yo, you need to unplug the controller to set the binding in the MCM

With the LS version, RB still performs both power attacks and regular attacks. I have fInitialPowerAttackDelay set to 0.15. Otherwise seems to be working nicely. Edit: I ended up just scrapping power attacks by setting the delay to some insane value, I wasn't using them anyway. But thanks for the config and the video, made it a lot easier for me to learn how to fiddle with this stuff and now I have a config that really suits my playstyle, making Skyrim an enjoyable experience with a controller. ^^

Yo, I'd say, it's possible to reduce the delay for the rb button. I figured that, when streaming my input lag went through the roof and it broke my config lol. Glad it helped you, I'll prolly do some more whenever this config goes public and perhaps explain more tricks or sth lol. Have fun mate

Hey, does anyone else have a problem where it detects the controller through steam, but won't detect the key binds? For ex: B button is set to the "V" key, and Long press B button is set to B button. It won't detect the "V" Key in-game through my controller but it will detect the Long press B button. It was working for me yesterday but suddenly stopped, any solutions?

Yeah, I can dodge if I press the V key with the controller enabled.

I've only used your config and my modified version of it. I'm not familiar with steams controller support, just downloaded to use DCO. I'm not sure what the reason is, seems like no one has had this specific problem before.

I just updated true directional movement and now the RB does power attacks instead of normal. Would you know how to fix this?

Yo. SkySA does that with native controls if you use it. If you don't, you can map a custom hotkey and use a DW blocking mod

I was missing my power attacks, so I came back to test this again. It would seem that if you press the right shoulder button twice in quick succession you perform a power attack (at least on my setup). So as long as you don't spam click the attack button it works as intended. Kind of a cool feature though, single click to normal attack, double click to power attack. :D I tried tinkering with it, but wasn't able to get rid off it. I guess the cause might be, that if you send another click before the fire end delay of the previous one is over, they are fused into one long action? I don't really know in-depth how the steam config handles these things. By the way if you're interested, what I ended up doing in the end was copy your setup from RB regular press to RT regular press, and your RT regular press into RT long press. Now when I do a single press of the right trigger I do a normal attack, and a long press does a power attack. So just like vanilla controls, but much more accurate, and apart from the double click issue perfectly consistent. ^^ Also frees up RB for shouting alone, so I can do responsive single word shouts!

I managed to fix the double click! By changing the activator from Regular Press to Start Press, single presses of the right trigger never seem to perform power attacks anymore, only normal attacks, no matter how fast I spam click. Now the config is just as I want it, happy days. ^^

The instruction video for the controller setup don't seem to work on my end. I have the mod working but only on keyboard. It's unclear how I set up the controller when I open the game through SKSE

I can access big picture and have the controller setting on in the options menu. The controller only works when I have the options set off. Base controller settings work but not the controller settings I edited in steam big picture

So I followed your instructions to the letter and for some reason everything is so janky with this control scheme. First of all if I have a sword and spell equipped the character moves fine. If I only have a 1H sword equipped he can only walk, he is not able to run or sprint. Beyond that the dodge key that is mapped as "V" simply does not work. It only works on my keyboard and not the controller. I can't help but feel I've done something wrong.

Thanks for this-I have had a lot of fun remapping everything and more. I can't seem to separate my power attacks though-the new power attack button still gives a regular attack when I just barely press, just like vanilla. What timing do you use?

Hey distar, hate to be a bother, but I love your mods and have been using your controller config simply because I prefer using a controller for most games, and the config worked fine before, when I was using my Razer Wolverine controller, but just today I got my new Elite Series 2 Xbox controller, but now I can't get it to work at all. Any tips?

Yo. Hmmmm...it's very odd, I don't have an Elite Controller tbh but, are they recognized as something different than Xbox controllers ? If so well, I'd need to emulate it and redo the config somehow, otherwise, and hopefully it's the case, you'd prolly just need to reapply the config for your controller

Is it possible to use this with iEquip or Gamepad plus? I have not really messed much with controller setups but would tbh love to make my favorite menu work better if possible without losing the ability to dodge etc that this setup provides. Thanks for the great work!
