Okay, we heard you all, Sapphire Safari needed optimizations and it needed it two patches ago. We have a constant struggle, do we focus on building new content for the game, or do we refine the edges and make sure everyone who touches the game gets a great experience. Both take a lot of time, and we are committed to making sure we hit monthly releases. So version 013 is all about optimizations and quality of life fixes! Let’s begin!

Optimizations and Improvements

The big update up first, optimisations. Our old testing environment consisted of older generation machines ranging from 7-5 years old. Naturally our testing conclusions assured us we were working well within limitations. But that was not the case. Modern GPUs and CPUs were running hot, and without proper testing we could never be sure of compliance. So we updated our main testing rig. We are now running an AMD Ryzen 9 7900 CPU, a 3800 TI GPU, and 32gb of DDR5 memory. With this rig we have been able to optimize the buggery out of our game. Check out the comparison from v012 and for v013.

We accomplished this in a couple of ways:

  • A vast overhaul of LOD for foliage.
  • A brand new lighting system for day time maps.
  • Monster Girls not being rendered outside of the player's viewport.
  • Dynamic Animation system meaning the further creatures are from the player the less bones they have and animations run at a much lower FPS.
  • Physics for breasts, butts, ears, tails, etc are turned off once the player moves past a particular distance to the target.
  • Along with a slew of much more minor tweeks targeting GPU rendering.

However this is the starting point of our work here, once you boot up Sapphire Safari v013 you will be asked to participate in the collection of game data to help us optimize for unique hardware along with any crashes or errors that might happen to your game. You can always opt out of this if you do not wish to have anything collected. That choice is always up to you.

Lastly in case of any save file shenanigans we have put within our systems options menu a save nuke button to completely erase any and all save data the player creates, since finding where that is located in order to troubleshoot player issues can be difficult.

Save Games

New for version 013 of Sapphire Safari is the first pass on our Save Slot system. Now you will have a total of 3 save slots to choose from, each with their own progress, character choice, galleries etc. You can overwrite any of them by starting a new game, and future updates will include a lot more data/making it look more appealing as well.

Also the Monpedia system is back up and running again! In the future we are going to be building internal tools for better testing of the Monpedia system so we do not run into this issue again.

So that about sums up this build, lots of time and energy went into making sure this patch fixed so much for the community at large. If anyone has any issues or feedback for us, please get in touch via Discord. We are always ready to hear your inputs!

Enjoy the patch!

The game still locks up a bunch when walking around or taking pictures.

Much better performance then the last update. The only complain i have for now, is the camera does not know what is what when taking pictures. I can take a picture of them, but they never get registerd, even when trying to aling the square or zoom perfectly.. There is no sweetspot. Just to note on this, that in the last update, the game could not very well register pictures at high graphic settings. So there is some detection problems when taking pictures.

We will need more information on your specific issue. Please join our discord server and get in touch with a mod.

Wait I am a little confused on your issue here. Are you talking about the text on the bottom right of the screen? You should be able to register photos for the monpedia for a majority of the poses. There might be a few we missed.

Nah im talking about when you try to make focus on the monsters on the island, and try take pictures of them, they wont always get registerd as the monster species got taken as a photo, even when they just standing still, they dont get recognized as being taken as that type or what they doing. I took 50 shots of them and only 3 got registerd as a photo taken on them. Is it normal to be able to make a dead center shot of them, even perfect one, and get nothing from it? The thing about the graphics and pictures was that when i had it in high in the previous version, they would always get blurry, or never being seen as a thing you can take pictures of. But if all set to low, it was easy to take pictures. Luckly the new version here solved some of it, but they still very hard to get any pictures of them in what they doing, even when in a good spot.
