We are excited to announce that in conjunction with the release of our new album 'EXUL' (out March 24), that we are going to be releasing instrumental versions of all 6 songs exclusively on Patreon!

A new instrumental version will come out on Patreon each month between March-August, 2023.

  • A private stream (see link at the bottom of this post!) will be available for all $5+ members to listen to.
  • The HD quality audio will be available for all $10+ members to download and keep for all time as part of your personal NeO collection! (being posted today also!)

Here in March we kick things off with the instrumental version of 'EQUUS'. Why would we do such a thing as remove Xen & Tim's vocals from the mix when they form such important parts of the songs? Well, when you remove the vocals it clears out the mix a bit so that you can hear more clearly some of the other details going on. So if you want to listen in more detail to the drums or bass parts, or hear some of the beautiful string playing without any vocals over the top-- then this is for you! (I really think the acoustic/strings section at 8min sounds stunning in this version). The song also has a different energy at times in this version which may really appeal to some people.

IMPORTANT: Just quickly noting that it's really important to not share these publicly as keeping certain things exclusive here on Patreon obviously makes it more special and worthwhile to be a member of The Ne Oblumatini. We want to provide the best experience here with us possible as it really is essential to our future to get membership numbers up as high as we can. So thanks in advance for respecting that and keeping this to yourself.

EXTRA NOTE: Each of the instrumental versions is going to be available on Patreon for 2 MONTHS. The month it comes out, and the month following. After that each of them will disappear. (This is to avoid people signing up at the end and being able to download all of them at once) So if you want to "collect them all" the $10 level will be the one for that. If you simply want the chance to listen to each as they come up each month, then the $5 level has you covered. We'll make sure we remind people before we take them down so you remember to download your copy in advance!

I initially just signed up for the Sarabande to Nihil and Hiraeth downloads, but I think with this I'm going to have to stay for at least until these instrumentals are all available, and hopefully I can afford to stay for longer. The instrumentals will be great for practicing my vocals over, and enjoying the incredible instrumental arrangements.

Instrumental versions are something that I really appreciate, especially in technical death metal, but after listening to the file, I find that here it is probably easier to appreciate how well-thought-out the structure of this song is. Sure, you can also see it in the version with vocals, BUT it's a bit easier for me to switch from a very emotional reception to a slightly more analytical one. I will be looking for more :)

This is awesome, can't wait to run it through my good speakers later! As with other commenters I'll surely use these to practice vocals as well. Obviously the Exul tracks will take precedence in the next few months but is there any chance that in the future older songs might get the same treatment? I'd love to test my cleans on Eyrie and my growls on Plague!

Less likely POI/Citadel tracks as we don't have instrumental versions of those created. But more possible for URN. We'll likely into that sort of thing further down the line (later this year?) I think. - Tim

two questions... 1. is it the same deal with the stems? (up for two months) 2. would you consider releasing instrumentals for urn following these? still hating myself for not just upgrading when you had stems for those. but would absolutely be stoked if those got released on a monthly basis, too. im so happy to be a patron right now.

Hey Elliot, we may do instrumental versions of other things in the future, but the catch is that we don't actually have them so would need to pay Mark Lewis to create them for URN and Jens Bogren if we wanted them for POI/Citadel. So it depends how much demand there is for them vs. how much the cost would be to create them. Re: stems-- yes I think we'll do the same thing with them being up for the following month as well. NeO is the only tool i use to practice vocals. so that would be wonderful. any chance you guys would put up a poll so you could get an idea of how much of a demand there is for them? seem to be getting a ton of new fans lately! 💙
