Hello everyone!

Welcome to the 8th and final progress report on the Loki game.

As I wrote in the last progress report, our situation has changed for the better and we can relax a little, which is also really necessary as both Cres and I (Wolf) slowed down considerably during the last 2 weeks due to sheer exhaustion.

We plan to take a week vacation (first vacation this year!) in order to recharge our batteries and set our minds back on working on webcomics as we originally planned.

Once we return from our vacation, the webcomic work resumes as usual, so you get the usual Patreon/Subscribestar rewards as promised ^^

This of course means slower progress on finishing the Loki game, but no worries, we noted down all the Patreon supporters and Subscribestar folks (Subscribestars are required to send us their e-mail address via private message as we discussed in the last post), and we'll hand out the game to those folks once the time has come.

With the webcomics back in action (which are a lot of work), this means that Loki game will take several months to finish.

Here is a list of the approximate work done on the project:

Planning: 70%

Graphics: 70%

Writing: 0%

Sound: 95% (not including potential custom made music)

Mapping: 33%

Programming: 95%

To address the individual positions in the listing:

Planning:

The most essential of the things on the list and basically what slowed the project down towards the end.

Normally I would have completely finished the planning before project start, but that was impossible this time.

Hence I was required to plan after the start.

Took me 3-4 weeks to get it up to 70% (isn't even fully done).

Normally planning takes 4-8 weeks of full time work.

So this is to be expected.

Graphics:

Cres got stuck with the graphics based on "not sufficient planning" (see above).

The planning is stuck at 70%, and so are the graphics.

Everything that was planned out has been drawn at this point.

Missing CG scenes had not been "decided" on yet, also the types of variations and what is actually supposed to be happening on the CG scene.

Finally, there may be some pixel art needed (for NPC characters on the map), but I haven't decided on that either.

Writing:

I'm currently stuck here due to exhaustion and lack of inspiration.

Will take some time for me to sit down, get my head into this and write the CG scenes and all properly.

Sound:

I had no previous experience here.

Talked to the VA, discussed stuff, reviewed recordings, editing and mastering.

Overall this took ages to wrap up, I think it was roughly 1 week.

(this includes discussions, reviewing, feedback, watching tutorials on sound editing, learning the thing on a layman level, as well as editing and mastering)

Mapping:

I also lacked previous experience in this.

It took me 2 weeks to get to roughly 33% (starting area, village and "first dungeon" done).

Needed to figure out how it works, experiment, then make the maps, and edit them several times as I learned how to make it better and improve on the mapping.

Programming:

I took the code from Taihou prototype which I worked on months prior.

So this was something I had already "done" before project start.

It's also one of the biggest chunks of work and most complex bits of the project.

Having this done in advance is really good.

The other work on the list (mapping etc.) mostly isn't "hard", but it's a loooooooooot to take care off and very time consuming, especially since I lack experience in most of the things.

Being a programmer myself, the programming bit was fairly... easy?

If that makes sense? haha

That being said, I'll wrap up this progress report and start my vacation.

See ya all around!
