so now that everything has been explained in the show regarding black's identity i think it's safe for this explanation. Super saiyan rose is black's version of super saiyan blue. It's not a higher level, Goku Black is just stronger than them while being relatively on the same level. After fighting goku for the first time in the past, his body received a zenkai boost (near-death powerup) that allowed him to achieve it because he couldnt before. The manga version of this arc is significantly better imo and does the whole explanation on Rosé a little differently and much clearer.

Trunks new form is officially called Super Saiyan Rage, simply put it's just Trunks breaking through his own limits, that whole sequence of him powering and stomping his way to Black and Zamasu is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and don't forget that because Goku Black killed all the Supreme Kais, that means all the destroyer gods are dead too in this timeline

Super Saiyan Rose is just Goku Black's version of Super Saiyan Blue and Rose exists because Goku's body now has the soul of an actual god, Zamasu, and on top of that Goku's body is capable of producing divine energy, and this combination resulted in a new stronger Saiyan God form unique to Goku Black

I believe this is one of the few arcs where Goku got his butt handed to him way worse than Vegeta, and I so wish they showed blood in DBS anime, would have made the show much better in my opinion, especially this episode

it's cool, but I'm gonna have to disagree about the manga version of this arc being significantly better, I too used to think that the manga version was a lot better too, because I had only read this arc back when the chapters were being released monthly, but I re-read the whole arc recently in one sitting, its 14 chapters long, and it is not how I remembered it too be, certain events play out differently than I remember, interactions between characters are different, and certain characters have different roles and vastly different personalities in the manga version I suggest you read this arc again, it may change your mind

To each their own. I reread every dragon ball super arc just last year up until the the middle of the granola arc in 2 sittings and still hold my opinion. I prefer the manga as a whole. Hell, I even prefer the manga TOP than the anime version, with my only issue being the pacing in the manga version for that arc. I feel like the manga has actual explanations and resolutions that make sense that the anime just skips or does differently. I will say that I hate the ending of almost every arc after the universe 6 tournament besides TOP. I feel the endings are super weak compared to the phenomenally strong beginnings, and solid middle acts.
