Thank u for uploading the last two eps together, that’s always a treat! This might be my favourite episode. All these confrontations - Isaac going off, Charlie and Ben, Nick and his dad/David, and then Darcy‘s home life… I forgot it all happened in this episode. And agreed, I think the appeal of the show lies in its comforting nature. It obviously doesn’t have crazy inventive writing but the chosen family dynamic makes me feel good and resonates. Even the (maybe toxic) positivity is kinda what feels familiar to me and kinda mirrors some of my current uni friendships and online friendships, but maybe that’s a generational thing (and I do sometimes find it a bit annoying 😂). I guess they address relatable issues but in a light-hearted way, which I like because I‘m not ALWAYS in the mood for watching something that delves too explicitly into traumas. So, I mostly watch it for comfort, really. The cast being so relatable is also a bonus, ngl. And yes, David is daddy issues personified. I liked the frame of him and Nick standing side by side, their disappointment mirrored when the dad is leaving and doesn’t even know what uni David attends. Too bad that’s not something they bond over, but that’s on David.
