Penelope is one of my favorite characters! I'm glad you like her too! Lizzie is season 1 Caroline - on crack as the great Stefan once said lol.

I love the moment with Penelope and what she did. At the same time as loving Lizzie's character too. I think I would have been more upset with Lizzie if what she was doing was mean spirited or she genuinely thought her sister deserves less than she does. But it's rather a lack of self awareness (plus some other things to be shown in future episodes). I would have held it against her more if she was older. Growing up, I honestly didn't know many 15 year olds with enough self awareness. If she was 18-20, her actions would have bothered me more. Still hoping she changes though. And I wouldn't compare her to Caroline, because it was mean spirited with Caroline, especially with her jealousy of Elena during the first half of season 1. And some may say it's the same with Lizzie's jealousy of Hope, but Hope and Lizzie aren't friends and have never been. While Caroline acted like Elena's friend, had been close to her all their lives, but we only saw her care for Elena later on. So yes, I love both Penelope and Lizzie, for different reasons.
