End of S11 already? Whew! Leaving this as a pre-viewing note so I don't forget to share my thoughts. Also, I'm sure you'll know, but just in case - next up is a New Years Special called 'Resolution' - Christmas specials are on the drop now! Then after that, it's Series 12... Phew,

I don't know about this one. Some good beats, and achieved moments. But also some unrealised and throw away ones as well. Does it feel worthy of a finale? I'd say probably not when looking back at the majority of series 1-10. I appreciated some of your theme analysis. Again I just feel that the issue I continually have. Is the inability of the writer to not rush towards the ending. This has happened before during other series, don't get me wrong. With these shorter series, you'd expect something tighter. The best parts of this episode, are the character moments. Which is honestly great, as I've complained about that previously. It would have been nice to wrap up this series with something more collectively substantial. At no point did I feel that I was watching a finale. To me it felt a bit flat and still. More tell than show.

It does feel remarkable going from the giant, bombastic finales of the past 10 series to one that's both big scale, yet feels small in the aftermath. And it's not like it's not trying to be big- the Earth gets shot at by a big laser, Tim Shaw's killed a bunch of races and stolen their planets, etc. But to me it just doesn't feel satisfying as a finale-- even if we had a pretty sweet wrapup to Graham's grief. (Should've focused on Ryan's more!) I'm glad to see you overall enjoyed this though-- your pickup on the themes and such are always a highlight. Excited to see you move into the special and the next season!
