At first I viewed the lack of mythology in The originals as a weakness when compared to vampire diaries..... But now when i'm watching it a second time, TO actually countered that problem extremely well, by diving deep into witch Lore and different types of spells and magic....We get to see so many different tye of spells, rituals and dark arts..its actually annoying that I didn't notice it upon my first time watching the show.......Witch lore is the only thing we didnt get in TVD,and this show covers that perfectly.. (I know S4 also covers a major mythological element, but I dont wanna spoil much

So yeah there 7 Mikaelson children like Klaus mentioned. When we first learn about Klaus in S2 of TVD Elijah says "My mother bore 7 children" one died in the old world when Ester was pregnant with Elijah and one died in the new world (Henrik) Finn is the oldest, after him comes Elijah. These two were born in the old world. Next is Klaus, who was the first born in the new world. After him they had Kol, than Rebekah and Henrik was their last child.

Sorry, this is long, but I thought it would be nice to tell you about a theory I imagined when this episode came out! From what we've seen in flashbacks, Klaus was more artistic and never extremely into fighting or interested in killing, except for the duel with Mikael in this episode. I was puzzled why Klaus would seek out the wolves with Henrik, who he knew could kill or hunt people during the full moon. After watching this episode the first time, I always wondered whether or not Esther's decision to keep Klaus away from his werewolf family resulted in Henrik's death. It's always been a theory of mine that Klaus's werewolf nature and feelings being suppressed by Esther's magic, along with him being a werewolf separated from his pack but close enough to feel their presence, influenced Klaus to seek out more of his kind. Unlike other wolves that we've met in the series, Klaus knew about werewolves before he turned because they lived in their village, but he never knew what he was or grew up with a pack. I imagine Klaus took Henrik to watch the wolves turn because he felt drawn to them, especially since it was a full moon the night it happened. Maybe I think way too much, lol, but I always thought it was an interesting theory and that it would be nice to share it. Also, the reaction was great; I always love your take on both TO and TVD. Even if I may not agree with everything you say, I find your insight and opinions on both shows refreshing and delightful to watch every week.

Rebekkah did tell Elena back in season 3 of TVD that they had 7 children. Finn, Elajia, Klaus, Rebekah, Kol and Henrick. But seventh one died in the Old world as she saifld before they came to America.

I agree Klaus was probably drawn to the wolves and subconsciously longed to be with his pack but that doesn’t excuse him taking his kid brother with him. He should’ve gone by himself if he was curious. I can blame Ester for suppressing his wolf side but I can’t blame her for Klaus bringing his little brother with him.

Luna

Totally! I agree he should've never taken Henrik with him. Henrik was just a kid who didn't realize the repercussions of going to see the wolves. As Henrik's older brother, it's Klaus's responsibility not to involve him or bring him along. Esthers' wrongdoings do not excuse Klaus' decisions or the outcomes that resulted from it, but I do feel from what we have seen Esther's choices did contribute to the situation as a whole.
