I’m sorry, sir, but SHE lost her too.

Great reaction! I was looking forward to how you felt about the twist. I’m pretty sure that was the first time they mentioned it but context clues may have helped. Personally I was so shocked. It’s such a terrible situation. I would never be able to forgive myself if I was in that position. Like you said it makes sense why Claire wouldn’t believe her. Gosh Olivia Coleman plays the role so well! So different to her character in Broadchurch. I wish Fleabag didn’t go along with her bs but the little passive almost secret battle they have is so entertaining and interesting to watch. That whole power display being a great example of their dynamic. I love that the loan guy came through in the end. Fleabag has been second place in so many relationships (Claire, the Dad, arsehole guy etc) she really needed a break. It’s nice that it was the loan guy she opened up to after she did so before during the retreat episode. Thank you for your reactions and reviews to the show! :)

OMG, I think I figured something out that never occurred to me as you were talking about this episode. Dad said in this episode that he and Fleabag are alike but normally he says she's so much like her mother. I think maybe Dad was cheating on Mum with Godmother and that's why it's so hard for him to be around Fleabag who is a lot like her mother and but also hurt someone that she really cared about who is now dead just like he did. And Godmother hates her so much because she knows deep down that she and Fleabag both slept with their dead best friend's love and she doesn't want either herself or Dad to be reminded of the mother and what they did. And he isn't repulsed by Godmother's awfulness because he feels he doesn't deserve better. My mind is blown by that thought. I don't think either Boo knew. This season was a bit of a treatise on grief, guilt, and loneliness. Can't wait for season 2 (which for me is possibly even better than this one. It's the season that won ALL of the awards.)

Well, shit....did NOT see that coming! No, we didn't know she slept with Boos bf!!! O Coleman's presence at the end was SO sinister, but of course, it's on her dad too. She IS an evil stepmother. I liked what he said about daughters fking their dad's up. I took it to mean that girls force men to confront who they are and reexamine their relationships with women. Perhaps that's why he keeps choosing evil wife over fleabag. He doesn't have to confront his own shortcomings with her. Evil mom is clearly still threatened by the memory of his dead wife, which is why she was there for the memorial visit; and so she's threatened by Fleabag, who is most like her mother. Wow, was going to wait on you to start season 2 but of course, I can't.

What 'Fleabag' did was bad, but I don't think she can be fairly blamed for Boo's death. That was some seriously extreme behaviour on Boo's part and I think she has to be considered responsible for her own actions there. A reasonable person just wouldn't behave like that. Remember, she got other people killed in the process. There's obviously a causal relationship with Fleabag's actions, but I think there was a bit in Angel where he said something like that sometimes the consequences of people's actions are massively out of proportion. She betrayed her friend. That's what she's responsible for, not her friend going so far off the deep end and doing something so recklessly stupid.
