So glad you enjoyed this episode, it's a fandom fav as well. Yes Dean has been wearing that necklace since the pilot. I went back and checked😂. There may be some episodes where he's not, but he has for the most part. Fun fact, when Sam was having Dean try the spiked eggnog, Jared had actually added real alcohol to the nog as a laugh and that was Jensen's real reaction to it. But yeah the episode really shows how sad their lives are. They both deserved so much better. And I actually don't hate John, but I think that has more to do with my love of Jeffrey Dean Morgan😂☺️. This is, to me, one of the first moments of that super special deep brotherly bond that that fandom is always talking about, (aside from the obvious stuff like Dean selling his soul for Sam.) The fact that Dean tried to give Sam a Chrismas, and the fact that he kept the necklace and still wears it everyday, so beautiful. After this episode the necklace got the name of "The Samulet" with the fandom😁 And so much is said there at the end to the audience without anything actually being said. Although as the audience we want them to just say how they feel, the way that ending scene was written, was so beautifully sad and we'll acted...also I always have to cover the screen during that nail ripping scene 😂, reactors are always surprised that the show was able to show that on the air, on the CW. Anyway glad you enjoyed it. See ya next time.

I really like this episode because of the flashbacks. I've come to appreciate the monsters/gods part too, over the years, but they just didn't work for me at first. It is really sad, the way the boys had to grow up. From what we've heard through seasons 1 and 2, John didn't have very many people/hunter's he got along with. I think we've heard that there were times the boys stayed with other hunters, like Bobby. But, I think that once Dean got "old enough", John took them on the road with him. For some reason. Dean was still very young, but he had to grow up fast and be responsible. I think that's why he developed the habit of pushing things down and not dealing with them. Putting on a front. Trying to be strong and show that's he's strong and not afraid. Because it doesn't matter if he is, he has to be strong because there's no one else. This is why I give Dean a lot of slack in how he acts. He had to do what he had to do, but that meant that Sam could benefit from having Dean there, in place of a mom or dad. I think that's some of the reason the brothers are so different in some things. At least they had each other.
