When you asked about all of the water on Hardy's porch, I think that it may not really have been there. Upon repeat viewing I realized that he's having a flashback to being in that pond with Pippa's body and almost drowning. Right before he falls there is water dripping from his fingers and there is the water on the pavement and I think we're seeing into his hallucination at that moment. I guess that the stress of the PTS is triggering the heart episodes? That's never been fully clear to me. Initially I assumed that the pills he's always popping were nitroglycerin for his heart, but maybe they are a benzo for the panic? Now why he sits on the beach and lives right on the harbor when it seems like water is a giant trigger for him is beyond me. Because he was definitely triggered on the beach when he first saw Danny's body and was super anxious about going out on the water to look at Mark's boat. I love seeing Miller perk up when working on the Sandbrook case, it really does seem to get that hangdog look out of her eyes when they make a breakthrough. I don't think Paul is as presumptuous as you do, because as much as Mark bitches about religion, Beth always does seem to go to Paul and perhaps look for comfort in that way. Watching some of those scenes with all three I actually got a bit annoyed at both men for not asking how Beth felt and just arguing between the two of them. Also, Beth really does seem to want to find a way to do some good in memory of Danny, and she did seem determined to try to talk to those men, even if it was too soon for her, as she soon learned. Beth is a tough one, but that particular cause doesn't seem like a good fit for her.

Oh wow I never realized that he almost drowned, I just assumed he had ptsd from finding Pippa’s body😲 That’s interesting about the water being a hallucination! I still think Paul is very green and shows poor judgment when it comes to doing what’s best for everyone, not just Beth. He means well, but he pushes way too much imo. Beth feels the need to DO something, but I don’t think she knows exactly what to do that will help her honor Danny’s memory and move forward at the same time. The rehabilitation of child sex offenders was so off base and a subject much too close to Beth and Paul/Rory should’ve known better. But he doesn’t, just like he didn’t get that visiting Joe might be a bad idea, especially for prosecution’s side. Oh Paul🤦🏽‍♀️😂
