Nice reaction Brandon. This episode is also not a favorite, but still with Amy and Rory its another example of their relationship slowly changing with the Doctor. And it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yeah it feels like they are starting to want a normal life more and more

I don't this see this episode being anyone's favourite TBH. They filmed this episode in Spain i believe, they have a ready built western town set that's been used in a bunch of tv and film.

The set does have a US western plains feel to it, as I used to drive a big rig cross country. Hope to one day visit Spain. I keep hearing that it's beautiful.

So we have the Doctor waving a gun around like a maniac, and Amy waving a gun around like an idiot. Great. I really want to give them both a good talking to about the safe handling of firearms. 😀 I do like this episode, though. I love the inclusion of all the 'Western' movie tropes like the guy measuring the Doctor for his coffin rather than a suit. 😀 The Doctor bursting Jex's bubble about his 'choosing the terms of his punishment' was very good. "Justice doesn't work like that!". Good choice of filming location in Spain. You wouldn't know that it wasn't where it was supposed to be, would you?

I wasn't a fan of this one upon first viewing tbh. But like so many episodes I've grown to like it more after a few more viewings. But I still don't hold it as one of the best. I really liked and followed your train of thought as it developed at the end. What I personally took away, was the right choice isn't necessarily the easiest. I agree the human response is to instinctively gravitate towards fear, anger and revenge and cloak the results as justice. The harder road is to go against those instincts that are in all of us. Because perhaps they are not a cathartic. People say "They got what they deserved." And like you said, who else gets tangled up in the process of instituting what ever form our idea of justice takes. Amy's line is the take away for me. "Now listen to me Doctor, we can't be like him. We have to be better than him." Which comes right after a speech from The Doctor that I fundermentally agree with also. He arguing for preemptively saving lives. Then 2 minutes later Isaac is dead after trying to hold to his own ideals by protecting his friend. A man who he now knows has committed heinous crimes. I agree with both sentiments and that there is the rub. The black and white and shades of grey in between. All that from an episode I regarded as just ok upon first viewing.
