Definitely one of my favourite episodes

That was a 2006 'Smoking Kills' warning. These days they show graphic photographs of things like mouth cancer and damaged lungs as well! People do still seem to ignore the warnings, but I think it does help to deter me from starting smoking again.

Wow it goes to show just how much the US is owned by corporations😂 That would never happen here. All we get is a tiny surgeon general warning that is barely visible.

(Continuing watching) Ah, another subtle dialect difference between British and American English! 'Cider' is always an alcoholic drink in British English (unless it's described as 'non-alcoholic cider' like 'non-alcoholic beer'). 'Cider' basically means apple juice in American English, right? Hard cider is alcoholic cider?

(Finished!) Yes, I really liked this episode. I think it's probably a bit more popular than the previous one, which I don't think was well liked (though I did really like it). I'm not quite sure what you'll think about about the next episode, but I think you're likely to really like episode 12 (written by Catherine Tregenna, the same as this episode!) and I think you'll think that the finale is OK at best. 🤣 Sorry for the multiple posts. 😀 EDIT - I think I want to live at least another hundred years. The time we actually have just doesn't seem long enough. :)

Torchwood is very hit-and-miss for me. Most of the time,it has me shaking my head in disbelief. This episode, however,I found genuinely touching and well written. One of my favourites.

Oof, yes, I love this episode. I’m just fascinated by the thought of talking to my grandparents and even my parents in their younger years. My great aunt,my father’s aunt, she’s still alive. We just managed to celebrate her 100th birthday before Corona took over. She’s obviously racist, racist meaning she doesn’t care about skin-color as long as you were born in Norway, and you’re christian or atheist...But adopted kid are fine... So....she’s definitely racist 😄 She also remembers her childhood, horse drawn carriages, very few automobiles. No radio, definitely no tv. She recounts her and her younger sister, my grandma, singing a specific song every night when “løktemannen", the guy who physically lit the street lights on fire, showed up. I’ve always called her out, whenever she’s said something fucked up. She’s sexist to the extreme, she’s clueless to the world at large, but somehow she’s also

Fiskekake

...the least homophobic person I ever met. She accepts me and my gay brother without a care. Now, if she was a statue, I’d help topple it. But she’s not. And for her generation, I think she’s the top of the class.

I wanted you to react to this show because of this episode alone

Samuel Coghlan-White

The reason why I asked what your favourite was last week was because i knew this would top it 😂😂

There is some much character development for Gwen and Owen , I love it

Definitely one of the better Torchwood episodes. I just find the narrative of three individuals being lost in time and having to adapt to a time that is alien to them quite fascinating. I liked how 3 of the Torchwood members established a connection with each of them. Gwen and Emma was my favourite as Gwen acted like a protective sibling or relative towards her. Jack and John bonding over them both being from different time was also nice but ended sadly. Owen and Diane's story was probably the weakest for me. I think it needed more development. But the whole episode is beautifully tragic. Emma was the only one who truly adapted in the end.
