This was my first time watching the movie, and I thought it was pretty good. I thought of Doctor Who too when they put the gas masks on! The kids staying the same age kind of reminds me of Peter Pan who never wanted to grow up. I don't really like the idea of Jake staying a kid forever, to protect them from the Hollows. That's going to be his life for all of eternity with no end in sight. But, that's the life he chose I guess. So how do movie requests work? Do you have to be at a certain tier, and how many requests can you make a month?

This was the last request for awhile. I’m taking a break from requests so I can focus on the shows I’m currently watching. I made an announcement a few weeks ago but I had promised the last remaining people on The Pilot Tier that I would honor their last requests😄

I enjoyed your reaction to this and I actually agree with a lot of your criticisms of it. I never said it was one of my all time favorite movies, and it’s not Tim Burton’s best work (that’s Beetlejuice imo), but I still always really enjoy his style and I really love the aesthetics and the special effects in this movie. There’s a lot of things about it that I found funny too, whether they were intended to be humorous or not. I was dying during your reactions to that part where Jake takes so long to shoot the crossbow at the Hollow that’s holding Enoch. 😆 I know movies and shows do that kind of thing a lot (and it always drives me crazy) but the length of hesitation here was just ridiculous. I like how Samuel L Jackson’s character mocked Jake’s lack of skill with a crossbow later on too. He was a really entertaining, funny villain, I thought, and the whole eating eyeballs thing is straight out of my worst nightmares, so the part of me that likes to be creeped out/grossed out really enjoyed that. I’m weird, what can say? This was a weird movie. It feels like a fever dream in the second half and I kind of like that, but you’re right. It could have been so much better. They rush a lot there towards the end. I wish they had just split this movie into two separate movies, but maybe filmed them back to back. They do that sometimes with planned sequels. And the kids from the time loop couldn’t stay in the present because the years would catch up them and they would grow old too fast and die, but Emma said they would remain in 1943 and “grow older one day at time” while they traveled around the world fighting the Hollows, so they wouldn’t stay kids forever (1943 would eventually become 1944 and so on, I assumed). They would probably eventually grow up like Mrs Peregrine obviously did, but just live for longer each time they find a time loop. IDK. It’s kind of confusing and hard to explain. But some Peculiars have grow up eventually or they would never have any children 🧐

I also wish they had flushed some of secondary characters out a bit more. Mostly just the older ones, like Enoch and Olive, maybe Horace too. Some the children’s peculiarities were just kind of pointless too. Like the girl with the mouth in the back of her head? What was the point of that? She used it to bite one of the villains once and that was it. I’d hate to be that girl and live with everyone having much cooler powers than me. Even Bee Boy, and I hate bees cuz I’m allergic. Speaking of weird and seemingly pointless powers, have you seen DC’s Doom Patrol?

Asa Butterfield stars in the Netflix show Sex Education, btw. It’s a very different role from this one. He still plays a teenager because he has that baby face, but that show is...not kid friendly at all 😆. And the actor (and his character in Sex Education) is British.

Oh I thought Emma said they would be in 1943 until Miss Peregrine was well enough to turn back into a person and then she would make another loop again. I don’t think they were planning on aging regularly when she could just create another loop somewhere else
