Same as you on this one. I enjoy the Donna/Martha bits, but the story itself is in my bottom 2 of Season 4. Why they made this a two-parter and not Planet of the Ood which I enjoy so much more (and I think has so much more to offer in plot), is beyond me.

"Man Flu" is basically when men get a cold and make it up to be worse than it is, women like to make fun of us by calling it "Man Flu", must be a British thing. The Doctors 3rd Regeneration was banished to 1970's Earth by the Time Lords for continuing to interfere in other planets affairs, so he wound up working for U.N.I.T helping them investigate Alien encounters (was also so the show could save money by having every episode set on Earth). Sontarans are Classic Who villains, so if they seem weird sci fi, thats why. Also stay safe!

I just assumed Man Flu was something that people got all over the planet :D

This is a fun, unpretentious throwback to the 3rd Doctor era;and I enjoy it as that. It's also lovely to see Martha return, and finally be given some real purpose. Martha and UNIT go together very well.

Always just an okay episode for me, although it's nice seeing Martha again and the changes she's gone through since she left the Tardis. And it’s also wonderful to return to Chiswick and see Donna’s family, particularly Wilfred, and the scene where both Wilf and Sylvia recognize the doctor from previous encounters from the Christmas special and Donna’s wedding. But the best thing is the bond between Donna and her gramps. Something to note: Wilf’s last name is Mott so he’s Donna’s maternal grandfather. His daughter Sylvia (Donna’s mom) mentions that Wilf had the spanish flu which is why he didn’t attend her wedding. What’s not discussed is where Donna’s father is. If you recall, Donna’s father (Geoffrey Noble) walked her down the aisle for the wedding, but he’s not in series 4 at all. Sadly in real life the actor that played Geoffrey Noble (Howard Attfield) passed away before the series began. The one good thing that came from this tragic situation was that Wilfred was added to the family, to the delight of us all. I so much enjoy his character and any episode that he's in.

In classic Who, UNIT stood for United Nations Intelligence Taskforce. Apparently, the UN objected to the use of their name and so, in new Who, the name was retconned to UNified Intelligence Taskforce.

I absolutely love this two parter mainly due to the character interactions and the reintroduction of UNIT. This feels like a great callback to some of the Classic Who era. The Doctor had funinteractions with the UNIT Soldiers and I'm so glad you enjoyed Donna and Martha's interactions. The fact that they bonded and Martha looking out for her by warning her about The Doctor is so sweet. The cliffhanger to this episode is also really good. Very underrated.

The Martha/Donna/Wilfred/Doctor 'relational' moments are the best. Love your Doctor impersonation, BTW.
