Certainly among the best episodes of Tennant's era. This is actually based on a short Doctor Who novel that came out before the revival of the show in 2005 (written by Paul Cornell, who adapted it here for TV). Originally, the novel featured the 7th Doctor and a companion called Bernice (Benny) Summerfield. Great performances all round. So glad you enjoyed this. As others have said, the second half of series 3 is a cracker!

Perhaps my favorite Tennant episode, and definitely his best two-parter. And Martha raises her game and shows that she belongs and deserves the Tardis key. She just kicks ass and continues this as we get closer to the end the series.

Looking forward to more like these two! “Cracker” I’ve never heard that expression 😂

I feel it's not necessarily as important how the Doctor did what he did to the family, but that they paid the price for crossing him. As for getting off light. I'm not so sure that's the case. For me that played as some pretty dark shit personally.

I loved the way Tennant portrayed two very different people in a matter of moments from each other. Also i think the Doctors method of dealing with the Family Blood was so he didn't have to kill any of them as its not his way... although how the mother survived falling into a black hole is beyond me.

Agreed. Its one of the few times the Doctor became vengeful, some would even say cruel. Feels more like something Nine would do.

These two episodes were my first introduction to Doctor Who. I had never heard of it before. Just happened to catch these at BBC Nordic or whatever. The reason 10 and Martha will forever be my favorites, even though earlier and later doctors and companions has since battled for that position.
