I don't think Ragnar would have killed Helga or the daughter to get back at Floki. He was close to them all, I guess they were like family and he knows they're not the ones who wronged him, and also understands that Helga had to free him, he doesn’t blame her. That’s why he gave them food to survive the winter as Floki would not have been there to provide, I guess. So it must be really hard for him to not only have been betrayed by his friend and wanting to kill him for it, but having to feel bad for leaving his wife and child without a husband/father. Yeah those were Ragnar’s kids haha, he’s got four of them! Ubbe (he’s the oldest so he’s the one who found Floki), Hvitserk, Sigurd (the one with the snake eye), and Ivar (the one whose legs don’t work). Ragnar’s far from perfect, he cheated, slapped his wife, and a million other things but just like you said, no one on the show is completely good, they all have flaws and redeeming qualities, and with Ragnar I do love every time we get to see how much he loved Athelstan, and how much he’s hurt by his death, for me it’s one of the strongest bonds on the show honestly. And it’s crazy how characters like Floki and Auslaug are so blinded by their obsession with faith/the Gods, to see how deeply Ragnar feels about it.
