This was another good episode! I heard about Jinx Monsoon beforehand so I was curious to see which villain they were going to play and I'm glad it wasn't The Master because I feel like The Master needs a long break. Maestro was a very intriguing villain though. Very camp, over the top but also genuinely creepy, slightly sadistic and sinister when they need to be. I think Maestro being a child of the Toymaker really works in their favour too with the whole musical and aspect of play being brought back into reality and sound in general being used as a both of weapon and source as uplifting nature and humanity. Jinx played it well. The Doctor taking Ruby back to her current time in a world where Maestro takes over was also very compelling with the destroyed visual of modern day London in ruins. I loved that because it reminded me of a specific scene in Classic Who and they've definitely taken homage of that. It allowed Ruby to genuinely feel sad emotions too which I loved. But this is definitely a first in seeing modern day London destroyed (at least for New Who specifically anyway). The Doctor also using his sonic as a silencer to shut down the environment sound was a very effective scene too. That's very new! I really liked that and how Maestro managed to amplify it back through manipulation of vibrations within the water. A lot of these shots were just visually stunning too. Cinematography looked really good in those moments. And also The Doctor being scared of The Giggle! We've now gotten more context to The Doctor not being able to do bi-regeneration again and how the split from 14-15 affected him in more ways than one. I love how the effects from The Giggle are still lingering. Having The Beatles (Lennon and McCartney) unknowingly save the day instead of The Doctor and Ruby was a nice change too. And now we've gotten another hint to "The One Who Waits" which the Toymaker also told the 14th Doctor in The Giggle. Very curious to see how that comes about. The musical number at the end was fun too. I imagine we'll probably see Maestro's child return too as he appeared again but briefly at the end. Overall, a good and fun story. The way you immediately said no to them suggesting the idea of visiting Susan was hilarious! More flashbacks to Susan screaming! It would be so interesting if they actually did though. I kinda want that to happen. I like that 14 mentioned her to Ruby. My only few criticisms with this story is that I wish it was like maybe 10 minutes longer than it was and also the weird time jump with Ruby as we've gone from Christmas to July which implies they've been travelling on and off for like 6 months now? That's a very steep jump after episode 1. I hope this means we get flashbacks because we never got a continuation from the ending of the last episode with Carla and Cherry reacting to the Tardis. Again it feels a bit too fast and erratic but maybe it's because the season is shorter. But I still want a properly establishment with Ruby as a character. even though I still like her. Also I don't think The Doctor ever told Ruby about The Toymaker when they met in the Christmas episode but apparently it was a line of dialogue that got cut from the episode? Kinda wish they kept it in if they were gonna reference it now. That threw me off a bit. I've actually liked both episodes so far but controversially, I think I prefer Space Babies just a bit more even with its issues. But they've been both been fun so far. The Giggle and Wild Blue Yonder are still the best episodes of the new era so far but these two were fun and I'm curious to see what's next. And yeah we haven't seen Mrs Flood yet but it's worth mentioning that we've been seeing another old lady that's been making a cameo in every episode since the Christmas special as a different character so I'm keeping my eye on both her and Mrs Flood (if she ever shows up again).

And yeah I think you definitely got fooled by an April Fools prank. I was so confused when you mentioned Matt Smith because that's the first I've ever heard of that rumour so I had to look it up myself and I think I found the April fools article lmao. https://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/matt-smith-returns-as-16th-doctor-101138.htm#:~:text=Ncuti%20Gatwa%20Exits%20Doctor%20Who%2C%20Matt%20Smith%20Returns%20as%20the%2016th%20Doctor,-Doctor%20Who%2C%20News&text=Press%20release%3A,set%20to%20air%20in%202025. For what its worth, Matt Smith did say he's open to returning, even in an evil role. So I guess it's just a matter of when the next opportunity will arise for another multiple Doctor story. Probably not for a while though. Maybe 10 years from now or less. Or maybe for another special occasion which could happen sooner than we think. I loved having David Tennant and Cathertine Tate (my favourite modern duo) back for the 60th so who knows what could happen. I do know that Steven Moffat is returning to write a future story which makes me curious but also nervous. Another fun fact for The Devil Chord is that Murray Gold (the music composer) made a cameo near the end of the episode. He's playing the piano I think. Also the piano playing during the opening was a really great touch and how it continued playing through the juke box. They also fixed the visual logo for the opening titles which is great because that was bothering me for a while. Although we've now got another issue of the opening titles now being a bit out of sync with the music. This happened before during the Capaldi era openings so it's gonna bother me again until they eventually fix it lmao.
