re:TYE Re: (or re:TYE Replies!) is a new monthly Q&A segment where we ask our team a question of the month. Each week of the month, we will showcase the answer of a different team member (and maybe some of the others may want to add in a comment or two) and we can learn a bit more about each of our re:TYE pals! A way to learn which one of us has the trashiest taste in anime...

Patreons of any level can submit their own questions (as many as you want so don't be shy!) either in the comments or via DM for us to answer on another month's Q&A so feel free to submit some questions and we'll agonize over an appropriate answer!

We've had some cool questions submitted so far so keep them coming in!

'What is an anime or TV show you think everyone should watch?'

When it comes to anime, I’m usually a week by week watcher though I often like to save one or two currently airing shows to binge all the way through. Usually if I miss an anime that was airing, it may take me months or years to remember to come back to it so usually I like to finish things within the season if I can. You may be reading and thinking I’ve totally not yet answered the question; you would be right! This is only my little intro to explain my choices because I’m indecisive...basically, I think of anime in terms of “what can I binge” and “what can I enjoy week to week”

Anime I think everyone should watch (that keep you hooked week to week): Mob Psycho 100

I watched this week to week and loved every minute - the sakuga, the story and the characters are all great. The three seasons are all perfect and really tie up everyone’s stories together which makes it a really satisfying watch and it’s really a story of how Mob grows with the people around him except with some super psychic battle stuff thrown in for extra fun. It may not be a show for everyone, but I think everyone should still watch it because I think there aren’t really that many shows that are the full package like Mob Psycho is.

Anime I think you should binge: Chihayafuru

I had tried watching Chihayafuru week by week, but it’s honestly the perfect binge show. It’s definitely a slow and steady show, but you really get into the hype of karuta and it quickly becomes something you want to watch all the time. It has a little love triangle in there for extra spice and it’s a really heartfelt show that I love coming back to watching.

Bonus: Yakitate Japan

I firmly believe everyone should watch Yakitate Japan. I feel like it might be a bit of nostalgia talking, but I have loved this stupid show for a long time and I just want more people to watch it. It has everything! ANIME FOOD! WEIRD POWER SCALING! REALLY OLD PARODIES OF THINGS! It’s just a really fun show about a boy who likes to bake bread and he was blessed with abnormally warm hands so bread rises faster with him LOL it is silly and just a really fun watch.
