Patreon Payments - Email Update (Patreon)

Hey everyone, I received an email from Patreon today giving me some updates about their payment processing issues; I screencapped it above in case they have not also shared this info with patrons yet.

The notable things are that there might be an additional 3% processing fee for some bank transaction due to their move to the UK, which is specifically supposed to be affecting pledges to adult creators. They also included a much more concise set of instructions on how to fix declined pledges, since they seem to anticipate another unusually large wave of them this payment period.

I'm bummed about all of this, but as this whole payment processor situation continues to be an issue, I've realized that adult creators like myself are a bit lucky that Patreon hasn't just thrown in the towel and banned adult content from their platform yet. I think they've made a lot of mistakes, but a large one was lack of communication and clarity, so I'm glad they sent out this email, which is at least somewhat transparent, ahead of the curve this time. I really do believe the fee is on the banks, and I also do believe they were backed into a corner in regards to payment processing and adult content. None of us can really be sure that moving them to the UK was the best or correct move, but if it ultimately leads them to get off adult creators butts a bit, then maybe it will be worthwhile in the long run.
