Lost Library of Ulth'ak - Coming Tonight! (Patreon)

This the Patron Voted Map for a Jungle Library, and I am putting the final touches on and will have it ready to send out to everyone tonight!

The Lost Library was once a thriving center of knowledge, relics, artifacts and research for an advanced civilization which, unfortunately, was sundered by a massive earthquake many hundreds of years ago. Water from a lake (fed by a large river) high above came spilling down the cliffs and swept through a large crack that divided the ancient library. 

Another crack split upon the eastern side and terrible creatures from the darkness came scurrying out, killing many of the inhabitants and chasing others away. For decades, the overgrown ruins of Ulth'ak lay quiet and under the sway of the dark creatures from below the earth. They prowled the forests and preyed upon neighboring villages, dragging bodies back to their lair beneath the ruins.

Eventually, some of the nearby tribes united and they made a push to rid the library of the evil creatures, or at least chase them back into the ground. When they explored the ruins, they heard a voice in their heads, coming from a large glowing sphere on the southern side of the ruins. The sphere seemed to provide complex instructions for the care and maintenance of the books and grounds, however, the people were a simple one and they were unable to understand the context of the instructions. 

Enlightenment and illumination were taken literally. Protection of the books was also taken literally, as they set up guards and patrols about the library's grounds and forbade anyone to approach or take any of the books. Anyone coming close to the library would be met with hostility and prompted to leave.

The Orb was revered as a God of the people, to which they provide the bounty of their hunts, works and efforts.

The many secrets that lay within the ruins are largely still unexplored, and many relics and knowledge waits to be found by those that could make use of it, if they can find a way to treat with or gain the permission of the local tribe.

And while they keep watch over the depths below, and tales of the dark creatures exist only in the tales told by firelight -- what yet delves in the deep?
