Daenerys' PR team must've been on sabbatical when she was dealing with those captured soldiers 😬 Even if she was going to go the "follow me or die" route (still don't think she made the best choice there), burning a father and son alive is awful optics considering the Mad King burning Ned's father and brother alive (a father and son) was a massive trigger amongst others that started Robert's Rebellion and ended the reign of Targaryens.

From what I’ve heated being burned to death wouldn’t be as bad as you imagine the nerve ending burn away rather quickly and you no longer feel the pain..

I also enjoyed season 7 as it was airing. I could see a decline in the quality of the dialogue mostly, but I was fine with faster pace and I liked seeing the characters meeting and reuniting. I just don't find it particularly enjoyable to rewatch outside of the big moments. I think this is still a pretty solid season of television, it just pales in comparison to the earlier stuff. It's good you're not being influenced by other opinions though!

If you remember Robert Baratheon’s weapon of choice was a war hammer not a sword.

I mean they were piles of ash in about two seconds, so death by concentrated dragon fire is exceedingly quick.

Jon and Gendry's meeting mirrors the first time us viewers saw Robert and Ned meet in season 1. They traded playful insults; Robert called Ned fat, Ned gave him a look as to say look who's talking. This episode, Jon called Gendry 'lean', Gendry called Jon short. Drogon could smell the Targaryen blood in Jon. Once again, Gilly reading the books in the Citadel gives us some new information. In S7 ep1 did you notice the page showing the dagger that was used to try to kill Bran?

By the way, Tyrion, oops, I mean Littlefinger didn't 'CATCH' Arya leaving his room. It looks to me like he planned for her to find that letter.

Yes. But so undignified I’d take a clean beheading any day. By ned stark or Jon snow they weren’t gonna messs it up like Henry the VIII did to Thomas Cromwell. Took four whacks before the executioner got the head off. There a thee that cromwell’s enemies purposely got the executioner very drunk the night before with a view to screwing up his execution. You can see it on YouTube as “Thomas Cromwell execution. The Tudors is a great drama very like game of thrones.

Season 7 didn’t really have a lot of haters until this episode when the worlds dumbest and most idiotic plan came to fruition lol. Then episode 6 happened…

Solid episode. Can't wait for the next one. You will figure out what that scroll is pertaining to. If you still don't remeber when it happens I'll explain it then. I agree this is a solid season. Har to beat seasons 4 and 6 though.

at least the direct dragon fire seemed to be pretty instantaneous. also i had been waiting for randyll tarly to die horribly for so long, i almost wish it would’ve lasted longer for him because he deserved it. not for dickon though

also daenerys telling jon she hasn’t given him permission to leave was a subtle attempt to hide her anxiety about him going and something happening to him 👀
