The new build alpha 0.1.9b is released. The biggest highlight of this build is the revamping of the stats / attributes system and leveling / progression. The final playable race for the game (bird race) is also implemented, but still in early WIP conditions, so they do not have working animations or full customization features yet.

The stats HUD Tab menu is majorly re-designed for easier to understand QOL purposes. A lot of the stats were renamed to their full names rather than acronyms for better transparency. The only stats that do not show up properly is the Movement Speed % and Magic Critical Chance %. In this build, magic attacks crit % share with the physical crit % for now.

Attributes are even more of a focus for the stats system. They function like parent stats to their respective child stats. This is how the attributes will work in the plan:

  • Strength: Increases Attack Stat. (Physical Damage)
  • Mind: Increases Max Mana, Magic Attack Stat, and Magic Critical % chance.
  • Dexterity: Increases Max Stamina, Evasion % Chance, and Physical Critical % chance.
  • Vitality: Increases Max Health, Defense (Physical), and Magic Defense.

Attributes will be a primarily major focus on your characters progression. Later on in development there will be an option to reset your attribute points, though when classes are implemented, will only go as far down as the requirements go. Classes will require a certain amount of attribute points (Fighter for 10 Strength and 7 Vitality, for example).

Evasion is revamped as well, simplified down to a 0-100% chance range rather than whatever the hell I came up with a quarter year ago. I couldn't even explain how I programmed evasion back then... 

The evasion chance increases on the level gap difference, but it will still be possible to deal some damage to much higher level enemies if you can do it without dying.

New map added: "Podiums". 

This is a quick map to test the progression for the leveling and stats system, each podium containing a stronger enemy type. If the leveling is much too slow for you, pressing F7 will level you up. 

Some other things to note but won't explain in full detail:

  • Armor drops from chests now provide stat bonuses, they are now no longer cosmetic
  • Weapons now have damage ranges
  • Character color customization updated
  • Typing a chat message in as a Kubold, Chang or Byrdle will no longer disconnect you / quit the game. For now they have Poon voices.
  • Double jumping added
  • Inventory now has mini-tooltips for each category tab
  • Chang all fours run animation updated to look more natural
  • Player movement / gravity physics updated
  • hair style selection no longer causes a reference exception error
  • Skill points are only given every Even Level now (2, 4, 6, 8, etc)
  • Mute music toggle added to Settings Menu
  • Setting Attributes should now save your character data after disconnect / quitting game
  • New enemy added - Mekboar. Be careful with them!
  • New alternate slime added - Slimek. Much more stronger than any slime you faced before.
