you are very misinformed about Columbus I suggest this video <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEw8c6TmzGg" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEw8c6TmzGg</a>

That's the same video linked on the blog. It's okay, and it does have sources, though not very good ones from an academic standpoint. Still, any sauce at all is a step up from the internet. Obviously my blog post is more about being humorous than rigorous accuracy, but some very basic facts are incontrovertible. Did Columbus discover America? No. Was Columbus' math and understanding of geography lacking? Yes, blatantly. Did Columbus bring back syphilis from the new world? Yes, though it's not exactly like they understood things like symptom remission. Did Columbus do things considered unspeakable by twentieth century standards? Yes, though it's only fair to point out that standards of what was considered moral or ethical were quite different back then. Is it really important? Probably not; nobody took the holiday seriously in my own experience over the last three decades, so I doubt anything will change regardless. ;)

Horrible video on how Columbus was so good. Meh

Quickpawmaud

it does not say he was so good it just says he did not commit genocide and was not responsible for a lot of the things attributed to him the video is well researched and nothing in it editing wise is very poor how is it a horrible video at all

Quickpawmaud

but he did not commit genocide like you state in the post and he did not think he was in India and he was following a map made by one of the greatest map makers of his time he was not geologically lacking at all sure he thought the earth was smaller than it actually was but no one at the time knew the whole picture only parts of it that is why maps were so fucked up and he did discover america he is the one who connected the old and new worlds whether you like it or not and sure the video is not perfect but unless you want to go study all about it yourself it is good enough as he lists around 15 sources that are fairly reliable but because columbus original journals are lost we will never know what really happened but insinuating that he was evil does nothing but misconstrue the truth that he was average not good not evil anyone in history through the right lens is a monster or an idiot
