Hooray for peridot. She's realizing that sacrificing so much for the home worlds narrow self-interest makes absolutely no sense. The fact that she was questioning yellow diamonds objectivity means she is growing. Also her calling yellow diamond a clod was amazing. Also also I'm going to call yellow diamond my yellow Fuehrer 😂

Ask yourself this though--WHY does Yellow want THIS planet specifically annihilated? It's heavily implied they have hundreds of planets under their control, and losing one shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Also, pay attention to the use of color. You know there's a Blue Diamond, and you know there's a Yellow, but there were other colors on that communicator. This is a huge step for Peridot though, and I love how much she's grown. I think it really threw her when Yellow asked "WHICH Peridot?", because on Earth she's just been Peridot, no other clarification needed.

That last part was something I hadn't thought of, I thought she got so thrown because it kind of shows the difference between them. To Peridot, Yellow Diamond is a flawless leader amongst leaders, but Yellow Diamond has no idea who she is, even with the clue of where she's calling from (If she had any importance to her at all, surely she'd know the only Peridot she had assigned to the planet the call is coming from?). To Peridot, Yellow Diamond was her whole purpose of being, but to Yellow Diamond she's just one of million servants.

I think that's part of it too! Peridot's entire purpose is to serve Yellow Diamond. She has her place, she has her job, she has her mission. There's nothing else for her, she is to serve. On Earth though, she's been more. But you're right, Peridot thought she was reciprocated. She thought her goals and mission were important enough for acknowledgment, but to Yellow she's so far beneath that. All Yellow cares about is for the mission to be completed. It doesn't really matter by who, just that it's done.
