SU Season One Episode 48

THIS EPISODE SLAPSSSSS!!!!!!!    You get to learn that Garnet is actually a fusion between two different gems!!!!!! Also, the song she is saying in the services is way more impactful when you understand the backstory for sure. Not to mention the lapis scene where she looks like she's going to sign with the bad guy and eventually she starts with that guy in the back and dragged her into the ocean. BANGER

I remember when this show was originally airing, I had been enjoying it up to this point, but when this episode hit, it just transcended for me. This one and the last one aired as a two-parter and it blew my mind. The upping of the gem war stakes, the reveal of Garnet's nature, the pyrrhic victory with Lapis, and then, of course, that incredible song. This show became the first thing I watched whenever a new episode came out. :)

In my comment of the day of episode 48, I said something about Garnet secret, this is it. The fact that they are a fusion, is the secret I Talked about. You will learn more about Garnet, Ruby and Sapphire later of course, but it will still be very beautiful. And suddenly, you have some past elements that take on another meaning, I would find that, but someone had pointed it out in a commentary precisely. Stronger than you, remains one of my favorite songs of the series, even after hearing them all, dozens of times. Just some words that are just so touching and Estelle makes them so good : I know you think I'm not somethin' you're afraid of 'Cause you think that you've seen what I'm made of But I am even more than the two of them Everything they care about is what I am I am their fury I am their patience I am a conversation I am made O-o-o-o-of Lo-o-o-o-ove o-o-o-o-of And it's stronger than you Just well made and beautiful. By the way, if I remember correctly, when the show aired, episodes 48 and 49 were the finale. Even if season 2 all picks up right after. The Steven Universe season endings are always in the form of double episodes like these. Edit : Ah I just found, it's in episode 37, Alone Together. The one where Steven fuse for the first time with Connie. At the start of the episode, Steven tries to learn how to fuse, Pearl and Amethyst say that fusion is hard for everyone and Garnet responds "not for me". Now you understand why ^^.

Such a great episode, thanks for this.

Don't know if you saw while you were freaking out, but Ruby and Sapphire kissed! On the general face/chest area but it was a HUGE deal when it came out. And if you're only putting popular episodes on YT I bet the previous one and this one together will get a lot of views, def fan favorites (you can guess why). I believe this was the Season 1 Finale originally! Hulu's order is strange for not making it so, but it's good to be warned bc the upcoming epsiodes def won't have that Finale feel since they aren't intended to be.

Hey fam, just to provide some context, the episode order on Hulu is off toward the end of this season because Cartoon Network originally aired the last 5 or 6 episodes out of order, with the finale being put about 3 or 4 episodes too early (which is the order Hulu has them in still) - I remember being so confused watching as it aired in 2015 :,) Also, that is Rebecca Sugar herself singing the ending song! We get new verses over the course of the series, slowly revealing the full song over time. It was always so exciting when a new portion of the song would start playing after a new episode :)

So this was supposed to be the season 1 finale but it was originally aired too early. Just thought I'd let you know since I don't think the Hulu finale was meant to work as one.

Hey david if Full Disclosure isn’t the next episode you watch then you are DEFINITELY out of order. Full Disclosure follows the events of this episode directly.

Another milestone episode! This is the one that got me to actually watch SU. I saw Tumblr freaking out over the reveal when it aired, so I watched this episode first (without understanding a single thing) and then binged every episode up until that point. I never give the voice actors enough credit, so I want to focus on Estelle's delivery for this episode--especially my favorite lines: "Oh, Steven, we already love you." and during the song: "I am a conversation." There's so much heart in the first line, and the second line is just such a fun and unique image. It reminds me of when Garnet told Stevonnie "You are an experience. Make sure you're a good experience" in "Alone Together."

All that can be said about this episode has been already. But I just want to say, it’s absolutely amazing how much they put into 11 minutes of animation. The garnet reveal, her song, Rose Quartz being more important than the mission that sent Peridot there in the first place, the first true mention of Yellow Diamond, (look back at the conspiracy episode where Ronaldo screamed about the great diamond authority) the title card being in space, three new gems on earth, and whatever the ‘Cluster’ is. Also keep in mind the things Jasper called them in the episode prior. They may not make sense for a while, but they will. (Overcooked runt, Shameless display, Defective. If you need the reminder)

Ruby and Sapphire’s relationship is beautiful and that’s shown in Garnet, she is strong, confident, and in control. I can’t wait for you to learn more about them and fusions in general! This episode is definitely one of my favourites.

This was the episode that finally got me to start actually watching Steven Universe. I had seen a couple of the first few episodes on reruns on Cartoon Network when I lived on campus during college, but I hadn't sought it out. When this two-parter happened, my Tumblr dashboard exploded with gifsets and people losing their minds. I searched up Jailbreak and watched it from start to finish (very confused the whole time). I then figured that I should watch the whole show up to that point to really understand the depth of what was happening and the Garnet Is A Fusion revelation still hit hard (the wonders of a short-term memory). I'm very relieved that my Tumblr blew up so I was finally motivated to watch SU.
