RWBY Volume7 Episode 6

Extended Thoughts:

Anger.   As I reflect on this episode the first word I think of is anger and neglect. The citizens of Mantle are tired. They are tired of the status quo as it is and are trying to go through the proper channels to get change. There are two candidates that are aiming for the seat on the council 1 are Jacques Schnee  and Robyn Hill.

This episode gives me strong Vibes of Dance Dance Infiltration.  That anxiety that Blake felt  in that episode has switched from Blake which is gradually growing and has learned that there is time for work and there's time for play to Ren.  He even mentions in the episode that he doesn't feel like he can take time off from training because he understands what they are facing. Or actually he has an idea of what he's facing. ( It’s worse than he thinks )

Another thing that was particularly interesting to note was the rally that was being held for Robyn.  there was a palpable tension that I felt personally. Everything I was thinking in my head was this is not going to end well. It felt like it was too perfect of an ending. She was the candidate of the people, but Schnee  doesn't, and wouldn't ever play fair also there was that deal with Watts.

Also, philosophically I truly wonder deeply is it the bad guys that always win?  if you have an  adversary that is willing to punch with the gloves off and because of your morals which I don't think it's a bad thing by the way you have and we'll keep the gloves on. that means you're fighting fairly and they have an unfair advantage.  wish upon further reflection is there advantage that they are willing to fight with the gloves off.

Which makes the ironwood struggle even more interesting because I feel like he's dealing with the same thing. How am I supposed to save the kingdom when I have an enemy that seems to be impossible to kill and is willing to do anything to undermine our society.   Although there's a moral Authority if you do when and you play by the rules. I just won't lie, it is tempting to get down in the mud with your enemy because they aren't playing fair either so why should you.

Those are my thoughts for what they're worth, have a great day guys!

if you noticed throughout the episode, the numbers started to shift. When Ironwood was looking at the polls, it was 70/30 Robyn. When Ren/Ruby/Nora were walking down the street it was 67/33 Robyn. And when they entered the Victory Party, it was 64/36 Robyn When I noticed that, that was when I started getting suspicious. Edit: and when Ruby slides up next to Penny while Ren and Nora are starting to fight, we can see Robyn is down to 57%. a 6% drop in just (presumably) Minutes!

The characterization of Nora this volume always gets me…she’s so passionate about Mantle and supportive of Robyn’s message. It makes sense, since we knew she grew up on the streets. She knows what it’s like for those in power to leave you behind, she KNOWS what it’s like to struggle. And Nora isn’t someone that just stands by and watches people suffer. But Ren, on the other hand, needs to feel like he’s doing everything he can, because he can’t be helpless and watch another city fall to grimm.

I think Penny's coming to grips with two things there. Number one, she wasn't able to stop Tyrian, and number 2, (and the bigger one) she's shocked that the people thought it was her, and are accusing her of those murders. Nothing in her experience has prepared her for anything like that, and she's having a difficult time processing it.

I told you in the previous episode, that you are approaching the top of the roller coaster, and that's it, you've started the descent. The next episodes will be filled with laughter, hope, but also a lot of drama as you might expect. Real emotional loops, so fasten your seat belt. About Penny, as Ruby said in volume 2, she has an aura, therefore a soul. She may have an artificial body, but she is human after all. Penny is a great optimist, even more than Ruby, so seeing a party that was to herald a fine day, turn into carnage and be accused of being at the origin ... Obviously it will affect her.

You’re really hitting it with that last question. Ironwood is grappling with a force that is utterly ruthless in its pursuit of destruction, and he has to decide whether or not it’s worth it to be humane in his decisions and actions at the cost of potentially not being able to stop Salem, or if he should accept that people will hate him for dirtying himself with the enemy’s grim (no pun intended) mentality. He’s sort of teetering in the middle right now, not really committing to change but also not writing off the possibility of a humane option being effective, as evidenced by his response to the team’s pleas to cooperate with Robyn. Time will tell how that stance changes, if at all.

I mean. It’s also possible that they started counting votes from districts where Robyn had a lot of support. Yes Watts could have been changing votes the whole time, but we really only see him do that during the peak of the rally. For all we know the actual results could have just been very very close.

When Ren finds out about The Truth in volume 6 the first thing he asks is “If Salem can’t be killed, then how are we supposed to win this?”. So now this volume he’s super focused on the big goal now.

When it comes to your question about Ren and Nora they've always been friends since they were little but for Nora its always been a little more in Vol1 she mentions that they've always been "together, but not together together" as for Ren I believe that there might have always been more but since what happened to him when he was a kid happened and he unlocked his semblance (the power to mask/suppress emotions) he has been living in a constant state of exactly that ever since and when they got to Kuroyuri and saw fought the Knuckleave everything finally bubbled over and with its defeat finally released. That wasn't super long ago a few months at the most hes finally able to start being himself, him and Nora finally started to come "together together" and now with all the stuff with Salem and dealing with Ironwood hes reverting back to his old ways and Nora sees this and shes not sure how to help thus we get this scene. Now that I think about this though I believe that his very actions of trying to bottle things up again might be what causes him to notice something else for a big scene that comes on later down the line.

There are both good and bad ways of dealing with unjust laws. Knowingly risking someone else’s safety is always the wrong way. A saying I’ve heard time n time again is “my right to throw a punch ends at the tip of your nose “ simply meaning that you have the right to punch, but not to punch someone else. Looking at our own history, laws have changed through mostly peaceful means. But wars and conflicts not only result in death, but even terrible living conditions for the ordinary people and economic instability for years to come. WW2 for example. There was the baby boom, making the number of people on the planet skyrocket. And I believe (at least in the uk) we didn’t pay off what money that had been borrowed until 2012. Over 6 decades after it ended.

I totally agree! I personally think it was the shock of people dying under her watch that really screwed with her head. She’s so innocent and pure

As a pacifist, i totally agree with this. Violence never SOLVES a conflict, it merely suppresses one side. Unless you’re somehow able to completely eradicate the opposing viewpoint (which is basically impossible) the actual conflict isn’t over. It’s kinda hard to think of this with Salem, since she’s “a being of infinite life with the desire for pure destruction”, but in the end, it still holds true. Though they may have to fight grimm, people fighting each other has always led to chaos. Putting certain people above others, sacrificing people to save others - it’s a complicated situation, and the nuance is always there. But settling for easy options at the expense of innocent lives is never the answer. It’s an almost impossible situation, and its an example of why multiple viewpoints and perspectives are important in making sure these tough decisions take all things into account and come to the most viable solution. While Watts and Tyrian are trying to create chaos and ironwood is trying to maintain order, there’s still the question of how far would he go to maintain what he thinks is order? And is perfect order worth the cost?

I'm super behind on watching reacts, but if you think about the Ace Ops name, Ace Ops sounds really close to Aesop, as in Aesop's fables. That should help you identify who is based off what.

I don’t know if this pointed out but the other 2 guys from team FNKI are kobalt (the blue guy) and ivory (the guy in white) they are both based off of the what color is the dress meme from 2016

About your question about Unjust laws and the like...I don't think I could just stand there and let unjust happen but also I can't and don't trust those IN power to UPHOLD those laws effectively As sad as it is, take a look at a lot of real world examples. The cops are HORRIBLE at policing laws. There is too much innocent death at Cops hands for me to ever truly trust them
