Third favorite episode in the volume. Very very good

So Ozpin not having a plan honestly makes sense. He knows he cant beat her so he made the schools to guard the relics from her and just stay the course until he can come up with something. And now Salem is putting big game plays out on the field and Oz has no choice but to move. He has to start making plays just to keep the game going because if not Salem is just going to take the academies and the relics one by one and its game over. Team RWBY caught on fast and have caught up with Ozpin but their time on Remnant is much shorter than his and will end long before it as well. The game has become urgent and they need a plan fast if they want a peaceful return to life.

In answer to your question on Oz, no. His stragedy is Not working and never has worked. Now that you saw the episode, I can fully say. He tried to kidnap Salems children in the middle of the night. What did he think she would do. Instead of gently saying " Hey maybe not genocide." He tried to leave with the kids. They really were finally free from the Gods who destroyed their love, their world, their human race and even their moon. And. He. Kidnapped. Their. Kids. For. The. GODS. Salem was straight up evil ever since, and Oz is exactly what Raven accused him of: a half truth telling immortal with white knight syndrome that screws up non stop. And mostly because he is never fully honest with those he recruits to help him.

Not necessarily Salem was evil before then. She was relishing in the destruction that was being done in their name and Oz saw this so he made the only decision he could and leave. He tried to take the kids not for the gods but for themselves. Those kids couldn't grow up around someone like that, it'll rub off on them and Ozpin didn't want that so he tried to get them out of there and got caught and Salem's first reaction was "I guess you all have to die." Salem knew he was going to leave so she just sat there and waited for him.

After Weiss throws the bottles of alcohol and starts the fire she lingers for a moment and stares. I assume this is because her mother has a rather serious drinking problem (alluded to in volume 4, and said outright in volume 5) and in that moment she was thinking of her.

I never saw this, but thank you. Anytime I've watched this episode I was always relating it to Serenity. I'm glad that it was legitimately and inspiration for their creation!

My favourite episode in the series tbh, I absolutely LOVE horror themes and the haunting aspects that just build were so unexpected but I was so delighted. The story of the apathy was just such an amazing idea, idk, I just fell in love with it. That and all the character development, the pause in their mission. It was just everything I wanted in a tiny arc :D

I think its important to realize that on top of not trusting Ozpin, Qrow probably also doesnt even trust himself right now to him he has nothing and no purpose.

Hey David. I'm really loving your reaction vids for RWBY. Your thoughts and reactions are the same as mine when I first watched the show. It feels like I'm watching it with a buddy. When you finish with RWBY, you should watch gen:LOCK next. It's another Rooster Teeth animated series and it's amazing, definitely a favourite of mine. It's not as musically based as RWBY is but it has great animation and an all star voice cast. Speaking of music, in this episode of RWBY I love the piano bit of Miracle that is at the end. Thanks!

The Apathy are HORRIFYING but at the same time, just an incredibly amazing idea for Grimm!

Really quick bit of detail....while they're running from the Apathy, check out the skeleton in the hallway (around the 16:02 timestamp on this vid). Now go back to Episode 5 and look reeeeaaalllyyy close to the family portrait (around the 8:20 timestamp on Hooman's vid). Do you see him? I love that detail....

Yes! One of my favorite Grimm designs. I love how their "attack" is essentially coaxing people to sloth to death. Very cool design. ^^

Worth noting at the end there..And mind you this is just how I interpreted it...But that look of horror on Qrow's face when he saw the Apathy burning. It wasn't fear of the Grimm.. They were already burning and everyone was confirmed safe. To me, that look of horror on his face was the realization: "My nieces and her friends almost died while I was sitting here drinking and moping." That always felt powerful to me... And it's never shoved in your face (As far as I remember) but you will notice him drinking less often from now on if you watch for it.
