This is the concept I made for shops. Let me explain some things before;

The game will have a lot of shops, where you can buy one-time items (Beach Clothes, for example) and other consumables/gifs/materials like fishes, potions, ores, etc.

So, for this, I'll need a GUI that's capable of buying and selling items in a "cool" or easy way.

I made the concept pretty fast on photoshop, it's not in the game. Today I'll focus on upgrade this and insert it on the game. And for that, I'll need your feedback/opinion/suggestion.

  • First of all, yes, the concept is messy and asymmetric af, I'm sorry.
  • Every shop will have their own money, who is going to increase every day. This is made to force people to work on multiple things, and not just raise fishing/mining and fish/mine all days.
  • I'm thinking of a good way to sell items. I started with an internal inventory in the shop with only sellable items, where you transfer those items in the other inventory and you sell them there, like the image. But IDK why I ended up with this last one, where you open your inventory and just sell all the items you want, like the fish basket in v0.1.0.
  • The idea is to see clearly what you'll be going to get when you sell items and what is the value of the item you're going to buy. Even sell the number of items you're selling and the price of every unit.
  • The colors of the numbers represent the rarity.
  • You can't click the sell button if the merchant has less money than the money you'll get.

If you have any idea or a recommendation, please, let me know! I will try to make the best possible design so I don't have to change it anymore.

Thanks!

you could also make it so the shops has like a reputation or investment level which could give more wares or allow you to access secret goods

You could take a note out of Fallout's shop system, and have your inventory and their inventory open on opposite sides of the screen and select the things you want to sell and buy at the same time, and have the game calculate the amount live telling you whether you're losing or gaining money. Then just hit the trade button and make the trade.

I'm thinking about that, It's a really good idea. The first concept was like that. Two separated inventories. I'm now trying both in the game.
