So, now that it’s Sunday as I type this, and we had the Ahsoka announcement yesterday; I’m pretty confident that they’re not retconning Rebels. I actually agree with your friend where GI is just a title, and he probably wasn’t playing the exact same character This would also explain why the actor came out and said he never watched Rebels

I'm gonna have to seriously doubt that it's a different character. Why would they introduce the same species of character with almost the exact same appearance if they weren't the same character? I'm sure he's just wounded and we'll see him again - and before I get countered with the argument that others have died to similar wounds, I'm sure he has access to the best healing available in the galaxy. Now, if they do end up retconning Rebels then I'm gonna be extremely sad. But I just don't see it.

What a great episode! My thoughts on the Grand Inquisitor: the light saber wound would probably kill a human but the GI isn’t human. Perhaps the injury wouldn’t be fatal for someone of his species. Fun fact - someone mentioned that the girl on Daiyu who attempted to sell Obi-Wan spice was played by his real life daughter, Esther Rose McGregor.
