Cephy: nautilus thoughts (Patreon)

Fun fact: their strips also vary on their bodies, so some may not have stripes in one area and some elsewhere.  people say his stripes  are Very pretty, which he may not know what they look like, he feels happy that others like them. Though not to strangers, he finds that creepy.

he likes to hear what color he is and how they describe the feeling it brings. besides that, he can sense things other can’t, like air pressure, weather, metals, and the presences of other people from a distance. He can even surmise weight and height if he taps the walls and floor. its so good, that he is the teams watchtower or detecter. though he isn’t strong he is sturdy and can take hits that would be fatal to others.
his shell is strong but not impervious.

enough force will brake it, and it will be his end. He is also resistant to having his brain thrown around, being surrounded by shock absorbing tissue. 

his cycles are more painful, and maybe longer. He does not have A heat cycle before spawning. Just a sense of when it will happen.  Eggs are bigger so it takes more contractions. also shaped differently from the others.  the only good thing is that he has it once or twice a year depending on how well his condition is.  Rather than 4 times or more a year for cephies.  

his head has nerve endings and can feel other touch. It is a no go to touch a nautlius head, since it feels personal. But It feels great when you pet him. Also its an intimate act to feel the shell and all the grooves in it. he Bites if you do that, (as a stranger) the few times he’s aggressive.  Though he won’t mind if he likes or is fond of you. his bite is comparable to Onori’s and also massive. He often needs to trim his beak If he hasn’t been eating hard foods for a while.

these are all I got from a day dream of a nautilus lad joining the group being one of the few of his kind. He was quite lonely and wasn’t really fitting in. Hes Blunt and prefers a physical distance if he isn’t into you.  Even as a friend, he isn’t a fan of too much contact.  Though he likes it if you describe things to him, and ask about the random things he knows.
he is fond of Onori. one reason is that he sounds familiar (because of the beak and the way it clicks) and likes similar food to him. Onori also is interested in what he knows, and can sympathize With his isolation.
had a daydream scene where Onori and him were affectionate and he would tell him where all his stripes are.  He would also dress his wounds, scolding him for being reckless. 

after all I did intend for the story to be more polygamous than monogamous, I just like reef Lol.  

though he finds reef imposing despite how puppy like he is.  I decided that reef is part of the colossal squids, because I made him too tall and I wanna keep it.  Reef got bitten (accidentally, he feels really bad about it) on more than one occasion due how stressful his size makes him feel.  it’s an instinct for many cephies when confronted with a large squid. Though he feels better after getting close with reef

he was one of the characters I wanted to make because when I designed the nautilus humanoid, that is what I wanted him to look like.

I also got an idea on how Onori’s way of business operates, and each of his Allies would control an area and report to him.
