can echo-locate, smell hormones (blood adaptation) and have excellent hearing and eyesight (true for vampire bats) and a good sense of smell of course.  His ears move independently to locate sounds really really well. cute and long and also sensitive.
his organs are very different and has all sorts of bodily adaptations to maximize energy conversion from the low nutrient level in blood. complicated Gi microbes to give him the nutrients he needs from the cells breakdown of blood.

adapted to have a high metabolic rate due to the constant need for energy and lots of it, so he’s always eating and always running warm. Caveat, makes him susceptible to dying from starvation if missed a few meals.  Pro, energy conversion Effiency made it so he packs a verrry strong punch and power, but not at all for long. Vladd and his species are not built for endurance, but ambush, hit and runs essentially.
being an athlete exacerbate his energy needs, his chronic illness, makes it harder to eat, and his genetics)) made it harder to live. (Prone to illness, organ issues, life expectancy issues)  
Generally, life has it out for him, but he has a very happy ending in the story.
