Welcome to Camp Gertie! We’re giving Patreon a fun new twist this year: you’re all officially Charm Scouts, so of course you need a snazzy uniform. I’m a huge fan of the ‘80s classic Troop Beverly Hills (Patreon movie club?) so I knew we would need to do something as fabulous as Phyllis Neffler’s amazing troop leader cape. So the idea for the Charm Scout capelet was born: a cute little vintage-inspired number that has versatility written all over it. We’ve made it in blush double wool crepe (no khaki here!) with pine green silk lining, perfect for troop meetings. Don’t forget to top it off with the official Camp Gertie badge, available exclusively to patrons here

But this pattern isn’t just for the scouting look! Make it in a beautiful plaid suiting or a lovely velvet for a look that says couture rather than campfire. This design is also interchangeable with the Hooded Princess Coat Expansion from February 2020, so you can make a hooded capelet, or even a Princess Coat with a removable capelet! I made mine Belle-inspired to live out my Beauty and the Beast fantasy.

Don’t forget to watch this month’s video to see how the capelet comes together. I show you everything from piping your epaulets to bagging the lining.

Please share your projects on social media with the hashtag #charmscoutcapelet.

I hope you love our new theme as much as we do!

xoxo,

Gertie

If you use wool-felt on this, do you need interfacing?

Could this be made into a floor length cape and if so, would you just extend each piece? I'm concerned the side/arm panels might be too much fabric?
