Learn to sew this month's project, the Swing Coat! I take you through all the major steps of constructing the coat, so make sure to watch this video especially if this is your first outerwear project. (And even if it's not, I definitely recommend watching to see how things like the lined cuffed sleeves come together!) I also go over darts, facings, inserting the lining, and hemming. If you'd like to make a bound buttonhole, refer to the instructions and to my Cropped Jacket video on Youtube.

Don't forget to download the pattern and written instructions ($7 tier and above).

I hope you love sewing this coat! Don't forget to use the hashtag #swingcoat when sharing your finished projects.

xoxo,

Gertie

Is the front facing piece supposed to match the bottom of the front piece of the coat? After I sewed the facing on the jacket the front facing bottom edge is 3.5 inches shorter than the jacket on one size and 3” off on the other side,

I've only just had a go at making this, and the result turned out beautiful. Im making another and want to try a bound buttonhole. Im not sure if im being a bit stupid, but I can see how its done on the front jacket piece, but not how it's done on the interfacing otherwise, I won't be able to put my button through. How do I do this?
