One of my most-requested tutorials! Here's how to add elasticity to a garment with shirring. In this video, I added a small shirred panel to the back of the Harlow Pajama top. Another great way to use this technique is to shirr the waistline of the Popover Dress in a spiral pattern or shirr an entire back panel like in the Jane Set (see photos below!).

I used Guttermann Elastic Thread, which comes in several colors.

I've heard reports of some computerized machines not cooperating well with elastic thread. I've never had a problem using the method I describe on both my mechanical Bernina and my computerized Juki. Please share if you have tips for any cantankerous machines!

xoxo,

Gertie

Love your designs ~ I am such a newbey... I would love if you have any video's where you go step by step, ( Holding Our Hands ) so to speak .. In order for us New Sewer's can watch your magic .. from pinning to cutting to sewing each part ? I'm sure that type of Video would be in 4 Parts, and with your schedule, it may be highly unlikely to expect .. I just thought that there is no harm In asking !
