Hi lovely patrons! I'm so excited to be bringing you a skill-based video tutorial (the first of two for this month). In this video, I show you how to make an oversized decorative frog for the Harlow Pajamas (or any other garment you choose) inspired by the one Dita Von Teese wore in her house tour video.

A few notes:

  • The cord I used is a cotton piping cord, also called cable cord or cotton cording. After a little more research, I've determined that the size I used is called size 1 and it measures 3/16" flat (here's a similar cord on Amazon).
  • I discovered that the Fasturn tool I used is available as a single for $12! This could be a great option if you're not ready to invest in the set with all the sizes yet.
  • Here's a tutorial I found on making cording without a fasturn tool (though I confess I've never done it this way and it doesn't make complete sense to me--let me know if you have additional tips or resources!).
  • Fabric pictured is a seersucker and the solid is a shot cotton in the color Salmon. I can't wait to wear this set on the beach!

Let me know if you have any questions or tips!

xoxo,

Gertie

This is super helpful! Thanks! For your pink frog on your rose top, did you use one layer of bias folded in half, or two? It looks like it has quite a bit of body without being stuffed.

I really liked this video because I love making the ornaments myself. Thanks.
