In my discord general chat I asked a question. I've had a creator recently advertising their work on my discord, however they do not allow others to do the same thing on their own discord. Let me know what you think if this is fair for me or if I should stop them from doing so.   While you can let me know here, of course I can respond and discuss it with you in real time on discord itself.

on principle i'd say to stop them. if they won't reciprocate, they don't get to do it. however, in practice, it depends on your relationship with the Artist.

Hmmm, interesting problem. But i'd rather ask this: Would this be worthy of your time? Sure, spam is spam and should be treated as such. But if someone just can't help and wants to advertise someone elses works then, well - create a dedicated spot for it. This isn't a direct competition, not for me at least.

As you know or I believe you probably are aware, on my discord I have a channel called non Anaxverse. One is for Chat and the other is for art. It's always been there since I first started because I like to promote the community and I like promoting creators. My only issue is trying to determine if it is professional to tell a creator they cannot use my channels to advertise since they specifically stop me from advertising on their channels.

Normally I would think it would be fine - creators working together and lifting each other up is a good thing! But if they want to advertise in your space while not allowing you to do so in theirs, that's pretty hypocritical. I would ask them to stop. They're clearly not interested in reciprocating, and it's disrespectful for them to take advantage of your kindness.

I think it's completely reasonable to expect reciprocity. That would encourage better behavior than letting them continue.
