Vice Bunker

Chapter 13

-VB-

Vicky thought that Alan, or aka Yal’Manus to most people, was a fun guy.

The fact that he seemed to “grow” inside a cave also made him a fungi.

Argh, Amy’s humor was infecting her.

Still, it was a good thing that she thought of him as a fun guy because she was starting to like him…? Vicky really didn’t know what was going on with her. It wasn’t like there weren’t any other teenagers or even young adults around her age in Alan’s bunker; there were over a thousand people in here already!

But … she just kept going down to meet him in deepest caverns of his bunker.

She might also feel a little sorry for him, because the real him couldn’t leave this place nor could he afford to; he called himself monstrous.

She had wanted to dispute that because he was a good guy; bad guys don’t open up his bunker for refugees to enter when he could have kept it tightly shut with how powerful he was.

Outside of the Triumvirate, Vicky didn’t know anyone who could dish out literal artillery shells’ worth of attacks. Maybe Purity could, but that frigid Neo-Nazi bitch disappeared some time ago. So he was a powerful and fun cape with his own bunker.

In her current situation, there was no one quite like him.

There was a problem.

He … might not be free. The way the cat-eared bunker administrator, Kali, swayed her hips around Alan’s second body made it very clear to her that he was taken. Maybe he liked older women? The other woman, the psychologist, also gave him the hots.

So why was she going down to see him?

Well, he was her friend and there just wasn’t a lot of entertainment in the bunker!

There was the recreational 8th floor, which was where most people went to. There were arcades, computers, gyms, a half-Olypmic sized pool, and even a sunbathing thing! (she didn’t know they were called, because it wasn’t a tanning salon because there was a giant light bulb that gave off heat like the summer sun in the middle of a three story room. What would she call that? Solarium?)

None of it really appealed to her, though, so she went down to see her friend because he always made her laugh for reals. It was just her luck that her first boyfriend died and then the only candidate she had access to was already taken.

“...And then I’m looking at him like ‘are you serious, dude?’” she narrated the one of the funnier stories from her time in Arcadia, and Alan chuckled.

“She sounds like a dumb one.”

“She is! Oh my God, you have not seen some of the weirder shits she’s done! She didn’t even realize that she was doing something weird!”

He shrugged. “That is just the way it is with people.”

For some reason, his words irked her.

“Just a little too dense, huh?” she asked him.

“Yeah. Especially villains.”

Her illogical and sudden irritation bled away as she agreed with his latest statement. “Speaking of which, I haven’t seen a lot of villains.”

“They are around,” he replied. “A lot of them got amnesty from the PRT in exchange for spots in the bunker and agreeing to work for them.”

Really? Like who?”

This was prime gossip.

“Well, Uber and Leet for one.”

“Ew. They’re barely villains. Just violent pranksters… The PRT really took them in?”

“Yes. They sent me a message earlier to not attack them if they ever go to the surface on supply run.”

“Supply run?”

“Yes. It seems that they prioritized internal systems over logistics. They are running low on fuel and food.”

“Unlike us because you prioritized hydroponics and … whatever gets us electricity.”

“Yes.”

She snorted. “By the way, how did you even make their bunker?”

He seemed to grin, but she didn’t know all of his tells.

“Like this.”

There was a pause, and all of his tentacles shifted and then started moving inward. His entire form coalesced and then became more humanoid. She could see that it was just tentacles coiling around in just the right way to mimic the appearance of muscle groups of other features.

He also stood at like twelve feet. He was almost as tall as the Simurgh.

Yikes. If he was out there on the surface, people might have mistaken him for the fourth Endbringer.

“Uh. Damn.”

“I had my smaller body form the start of the bunker by digging into the ground and fortifying what would be the elevator entrance, and then teleported myself in.”

She blinked. “Teleport?”

“Yes. I managed to complete a personal teleporter built into myself. It’s not practical; it requires a lot of build-up and coordinates for me to work with.”

“Right. Since you can make anything techie inside of yourself, you could do that. Well damn, you’re a Mover on top of Blaster, Striker, Brute, and Tinker!”

He chuckled along with her before he seemed to think that he’d shown her enough and relaxed.

Vicky’s eyes widened as his body uncoiled and just sprayed out in all directions like an explosion. She quickly put her arms over her face, and slipped when one of the tentacles now pushed out from him clipped her leg. Her shield took care of that and didn’t even break, but she did slip.

She fell backward with a yelp… and landed on him.

She looked down and saw herself at the center of a lot of different tentacles.

“Ah, sorry about that,” he rumbled and some of those tentacles changed to arms and hands. He helped her up… and she held hands with one of those hands.

Yeah, it was super not romantic because hello, disembodied hands?

But she felt her face heat up when she saw her hand holding one of his hands.

“... Vicky?”

“H-Huh?” she uttered before looking towards what she liked to call his center mass, and she couldn’t help but see just how comfy he would be. “... Hey, you mind if I just lay down for a while? You know, it’s stressful being a cape up there.”

It was the perfect excuse!

He looked at her for a moment before shrugging and lowering his hand-tentacles. They changed back to being tentacles, and he made this smoothed out ring of tentacles. They … had wool now?

“Sure.”

She cautiously lowered herself down and …

Wow, he was the perfect cushion.

Ugh, she was going to fall asleep at this rate…
