Hello, we sadly have to announce that we will stop the Daily Free Model Promotion for now.

Many Patrons thought that these free models were part of their Patreon subscription and therefor stopped their subscription because they couldn't download them in time.

We want to make clear that those promotional models were free for everyone and didn't affect the usual 90+ monthly new models you would get from us as part of your paid subscription tier.

We haven't considered that giving people the option to get something for free would cause this much negativity. Since many people had the feeling that we took away something from them, when they couldn't download the free models in time, the promotion did more harm then good. So we decided to end it for now.

Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the promotion while it lasted. We learned from the experience and might return a promotion like this in the future.

If you have questions or feedback, feel free to comment below or send us a message.

Best regards,

Your Epic Miniatures Team

Thank you for the generosity you showed in even offering the free models. Booo to the people who ruined it for everyone by complaining about something given for free.

I honestly thought you were very transparent with how it all worked and from the get go I knew I would miss some along the way. Thanks for all the free models, especially the winter wolf and mimic crate. Cheers.

Sorry that got misunderstood. We understood what you meant right away. I hadn't really looked at the promotion - I am pretty sure we have everything, we've been in the Patreon for a long time.

Thank you for the long time support! The free models were from past releases, so if you have everything, you probably have them also. 😃

I thought it was fantastic as well. It actually made Epic stand out from the crowd! I wish all my other subs on patreon and mmf were as dedicated as Epic has been. Sorry a few messed it up. we'll be here for a long while =)

Thank you! We got a suggestion to do a weekly distribution instead (7 free models a week) and started a poll to see what you guys think about it. 😃 https://www.patreon.com/posts/weekly-free-of-88625795

I thought it was clear. If they didn't understand...well...you can't fix stupid even with duct tape. I do think weekly works better for those with schedules (and kids, and dogs, and home maintenance, etc), time fills up. Thank you!

I’m really sorry to see this end. I was really enjoying this feature. I checked for the model while I drank my morning coffee each morning and I was always excited to see what was coming next. I thought this was a great thing and I hope you have a change of heart on this because I’m sure I’m not the only person who felt this way. Regardless, thank you for the promotion! I really loved it and as a new subscriber, I appreciate the work your team does! Fantastic models!

I've only been a patron for a few months, so these were all new to me. I appreciate all that you did share for free!

I understood and enjoyed the concept. Yes, I kicked myself the few times I missed it, but hey-ho, that was my problem. Thank you for continuing to be great. I will now look forward to the weekly ones.

Nothing gold can stay. Sorry to hear that, what a great promo. Did I have a chance to download all of them? No. Did I throw a fit when I missed one? Nooooo.

However I realize the problem may not just be visibility. There are those that just cannot accept when they miss out on something.

I posted this in the poll thread but I think it is more relevant here: I have been giving this some thought and I think I have an idea that will work for everyone. I imagine the purpose of the free model is to create an awareness promotion to bring in more subscribers. The problem is, that while you are being awesomely generous. You are actually being too generous with a daily model as it is more than most people can print and therefore may not feel the need to subscribe at all. Instead you would be better served with a weekly single free model. Now here is how you will keep the patrons happy. When you release your monthly bundle you should have the bonus models for the month included and clearly marked as bonus. This will give patrons advance access to these bonus models and when the weekly models are distributed won't feel the pressure to rush out and download because they are already included. By adding them to the monthly subscription you also don't need to worry about a separate bonus bucket that continuously fills for a large payout to those who do not subscribe monthly. Now you will be able to promote and drive business without confusing or angering current patrons.

I understand your frustration: try to do something nice and all people do is complain. That said, the takeaway here isn't "no one appreciates our kindness" - the lesson here is "execution is everything." It wasn't what you were doing (I think we all appreciated that), it was the method which created the frustration. I think the poll really makes it clear that perhaps a modicum of research and collaboration with your patrons might have saved you some headache. As someone who once bought a diabetic an elaborate birthday cake, I can empathize with your reaction and the annoyance that no good deed goes unpunished.

Sorry to hear this, and thank you for trying it. I got a few really cool ones from it!
