I was watching your older video on card draw and card advantage when I saw this post! what a coincidence! thanks for the consistent advice to get our decks in shape!

Just FYI, around the 9 minute mark (or a little before), the audio and visuals are out of sync. Josh is talking, but Jimmy is moving his mouth. This continues until the cut a little before 9:30 (sorry for the imprecise marks).

@JLK; @Jimmy; I didn't want to throw this into discord but I wanted to start a position for you to consider.

I just watched your latest video on card draw. I want to thank for another tremendous and thought-provoking journey. I believe this may be the most thorough and exhaustive discussion on card draw, something that the community can use a reference for years to come. However, I respectfully disagree on your definition of Card Draw (the yielding of a net increase in cards in hand). TL;DR: The purpose of card draw is not necessarily gain card advantage. The purpose and primary benefit of card draw is to allow a player to traverse through his/her deck at a faster rate than one would be able to at the normal game speed (each turn = one draw). A few cases consider: CANTRIPS vs TUTORs. As you stated, by the definition in the video, the value of Cantrip spell is equal to that of a Tutor. Intuitively this just doesn’t resonate. Tutors allows one to draw the exact card one’s need at a time and place of one’s choosing. If Tutors are not considered Card Draw cards in the EDH deck building rubric, then what other category would Tutors be classified? RUMMAGING. Rummaging, or “Red Looting”, is still tremendously powerful because it gets one through one’s deck, and down to the cards he/she needs. One can traverse through one’s Spellbook faster than they normally would be allowed to. CYCLING. Cycling is essentially a one-for-one card replacement (discard then draw). Ikoria has demonstrated quite effectively the power behind cards with Cycling and their ability to drill through decks and draw the cards that one needs. I’m a predominate red player so I see cards through a Fire Nation lens. By the definition presented in the video, aside from Wheel affects, there are no cards in red that allow one to “draw”. Fundamentally, because of Tutors spells (even Gamble), Rummaging cards, and the Cycling mechanic, the definition of card draw presented in the video should be amended to consider intent, which is not necessarily card advantage but to traverse through one’s deck at speed. BTW: the closing graphics are simply delicious.

For me, Teferi's Puzzle Box is draw. I have it in my Shabraz & Brallin deck. It's a mid-power deck focused on Shabraz. It is Draw matters, life gain matters, Voltron, giant flying shark deck! Those draw triggers are huge! (This is probably considered corner case, as you are looking at overall numbers in hand as opposed to the value of simply cycling cards and gaining value off of anything with the word "draw" attached to it). I also have a Brallin & Shabraz version that is focused on Brallin. It's a CEDH level, Curiosity, Underworld Breach, wheels, deck that has way low CMC and tons of responses.

Wheels have long been my favorite effect to build around.

They covered it in the video. Things like tutors are card selection not card draw and are a different but still powerful category
