I definitely see the new mechanic counters being a staple in most (if not every) set release. It reminds me of the feeling I had when they first released Planewalkers -- it was ground breaking and challenged the fundamentals of the game. Personally I'd like to see WotC think more outside of the box like they are with Mutate and Companion. In fact, I'd love for them to bring more sets like Time Spiral where everything is questioned and the game is re-invented in many ways. If you think about it, that'd be the perfect excuse to give White its much-needed boost ;)

Nightmare Shepherd is a card I play a lot in Commander with Rest In Peace and you can still make tokens with Nightmare Shepherd while Rest In Peace is on the battlefield because the die trigger happens before it hit the graveyard and it works that way in arena as well with leyline of the void.

Mattezhion Zane Corgan Campbell

It shouldn't work, Nightmare Shepherd has a triggered ability that works if a creature dies, but Leyline and Rest in Peace are replacement effects that send creatures straight to exile without dying.

I am aware but according to three judges I’ve talked to who I play commander with that’s how it works.

Oh I forgot to say Nightmare Shepherd’s affect acts as a replacement so if the card hits the graveyard Night mare Shepherd’s affect can’t happen.
